Shrinking gums and loose teeth

Q. The bone in my gums are shrinking and so most of my teeth are loose i’m not affraid of dentures but i really don’t want the plate do i have an alternative? My dentist says implants are not an option because ther is not enough bone to old them

A. Hi many thanks for your email, the only way you know if you have enough bone or not for sure would be to have a ct scan which is a three dimensional x ray of your jaws. usually if you still have teeth in your mouth this would indicate there is a small level of bone supporting them. you could book a consultation with myself to discuss this further.

I am pretty worried, I am 52 and I seem to have something growing out of my gums on the inside of my lower back molars. My gums were feeling sensitive for a while then a few weeks ago something smooth and hard formed in that spot. I scraped it with my finer and a small, white hard thing that looked like bone came out. It felt normal again afterwards but now something else similar has formed but I can’t seem to dislodge it. Its white and sharp and has broken through the tissue. What is it and what should I do?

Salvador Says :

It is possible it could be pieces of bone as a result of a previous extraction of a tooth in that area.

It may not be food. It could be part of the tissue healing. If you are concerned contact the doctor who removed the tooth and let them evaluate it. Dr. Lemongello
