i have protruding teeth how can i get them aligned?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Caplan, I sent a question about 3 weeks ago and haven’t seen a reply yet so I’m not sure if you received e-mail – apologies if you have received it twice. I am 48 years old and I lost one of my front teeth when I was about 13 years old, I had a fall and the dentist removed the broken tooth and fitted a false one on a pallet which I hated. About 17 years ago I had a bridge fitted which now needs attention as it is starting to wear badly. However my problem is that I have protruding front teeth that I would dearly love to have straightened (they are not so bad and they are not crooked in any way – I think the problem was caused with me having a dummy as a child) Am I right in thinking I cannot have an invisible brace fitted when I have a bridge? If not, what do you think my best option would be where I could have an invisible brace fitted? Can I have the bridge removed and have an implant fitted and a brace fitted then? I do hope you can help me – despite my age, my confidence is rock bottom because of this problem and I don’t want to waste anyone’s time by making an appointment. Many thanks in advance. Many thanks

I have overcrowded and crooked teeth can i go for invisalign?

Q.
I have over-crowded and crooked teeth (dracula type of teeth). Would invisalign work for me or should I go for cosmetic dentistry? I am also a nervous patient and have a phobia for dentist.

my teeth are on Invisalign but will i have to wear retainers there after?

Monday, September 14th, 2009
Q.
Hi. I’m currently having my teeth reset via an Invisalign treatment which is due to be complete in Jan 2010. The focus is on rotating an upper incisor so that it aligns with the rest of my teeth. I’m told that I’ll need to wear retainers at the end of the treatment and am not sure which type to go for. My dentist has a preference for fixed retainers which need to be worn for at least five years though he suggests wearing them indefinitely. However feedback from his other Invisalign patients has been that there has been regression in the molars and pre-molars which has had an impact on the more visble incisors and canines. The alternative are trays much like the Invisalign trays I currently wear. Initially I was told that I’d need to wear these all day and night for six months and then just nights after that. However I’m told by other people with knowledage of such things that wearing them every night from Day One will be more than sufficient. This sounds fine but my concern is that the teeth will constantly be moving – regressing in the day and then being corrected every night… Also I’m concerned about breaking the retainers (which has happened with several of my Invisalign trays). Plus cleaning is a concern as I can never get my Invisalign trays 100% clean no matter how much I brush them. However the latter would be my preference as I could eat and drink whenever I wanted, clean and floss properly, not worry about getting food caught in fixed retainers, etc. Could you offer your advise and expertise in helping me choose. Also I would be very grateful if you could spell out all the pros and cons of both types of retainer, your patients’ experience and perhaps even any alternatives. Kindest regards Harp

Q.
Hi there, just came across your website, and as a young graduated VT, i am interested in furthering my skills and knowledge. one of the things i was looking at doing was clear step, and saw that you are a practicing practisioner. Is it really as effective and successful. if there is a choice between and inman aligner, clear step or invisalign what would you chose? i would be really grateful if you can answer these for me. best wishes

My lateral incisors and canine stick are protruded what treatment is available?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I’m 19 and I was wondering was cosmetic treatments would be suited for myself. My upper lateral incisors and canine teeth are sticking out that makes them look a little raised due to them coming in before my baby canines had been removed. The rest of my upper teeth are aligned correctly however they slightly slant in. Bottom teeth are fine, what treatments are available? Thanks.

Which braces have better results over long term fixed or invisalign?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009
Q.
Hi, i am 25 and i have been advised by my orthodontist that i require a brace for my lower teeth to close up a couple of gaps i have(about 3mm gaps). i have been given the option of a fixed brace or the invislign brace. which would provide me with faster, better results over longterm. what kind of cost should i be expecting for each? Thank you

I had braces years back but my overbite came back advice?

Thursday, September 10th, 2009
Q.
Hi There, I had braces when I was a young teenager to close the gap between my two front teeth and get rid of my overbite. The gap has gone but my overbite came back (due to not wearing my retainer when I was younger). I would now like to get this corrected, but don’t particularly want to get one of the regular train track braces, and cannot afford to pay thousands of pounds for the other treatments. Are there any alternatives?

I had braces years back and now crooked should i get braces fixed again?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
Q.
Hi Dr Andrew Moore My teeth started to move only a few months after i had finished six months of wearing a removable brace and before this a fixed brace and night brace during a year and a half. This was when i was about ten , i am 38 now,my front teeth are quite big compared to what my baby teeth were like and so i have always had a problem with over crowding. As my teeth are quite crooked at the front, they over lap, do you think i would benifit from having a removable or fixed brace again could it help to straighten my front teeth or would my teeth end up crooked again. My bottom teeth are also crooked but i did not have a brace as i was told at the time that my teeth would eventualy straighten out but this did not happen. Thank you for your time and help

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
Q.
Can teeth grinding be corrected with Invisalign? And does a dentist have to have special training in Invisalign care?
