If I Have Osseous Surgery Will My Teeth Become Loose And Brittle? I’m Terrified They Will. Is There Anything Else That Can Be Done?

Tuesday, February 25th, 2014
Q.

Hello Andrew, I was wondering whether you can tell me if it is true that teeth become loose and brittle after osseous surgery? I been told I may need this gum surgery and I am terrified about what the outcome will be with my mouth and teeth?
I have receding gums and spaces between my teeth, especially the top teeth, but otherwise I have good oral hygiene. What other options might be available for me to have instead of this gum surgery? Does it really have to be so drastic, this surgery? Please advise me on this. Thank you.

After Learning About The Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation Technique, I’d Like To Know When This Would Be Available In The UK?

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014
Q.

Hi Mark. I have a question for you. After learning about the Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation technique, I was wondering when we would see this technique available in the UK? It seems to be a real alternative to the dreaded gum graft with similar if not better results, which is suture and incision free, whilst also taking less time to carry out with a better and more comfortable healing time. Is this something we will see in the UK in the very near future? Thanks!

I have a hypermobile upper lip where can I get it corrected?

Thursday, December 6th, 2012
Q.

Hello Dr Hughes, I have a hypermobile upper lip, I am looking for a surgeon who can correct this with lip re-positioning but am really struggling to find a London based clinic, or any in the UK at all really. Would you be able to advise me to where I can go to get this correct with a reputable doctor. I would prefer to have it corrected at Harley Street but cannot see that it’s a correction they offer.

thanks for your help and any advice. Kind regards,

Can you advise me about my bleeding gums, as I have tried everything?

Friday, August 6th, 2010
Q.
Hi, Please can you advise me on my options as I suffer from bleeding gums and I have tried everything from seeing the hygienist regularly, daily flossing, using a waterpik and most herbal products on the market including Oram d but nothing has stopped the bleeding. I have had exrays by 3 different dentist and they say I just need to keep up what I am doing but the bleeding won’t stop. Do you think I should consider gum surgery as my gums are not pink, in some places they are more of a purple colour. I am desperate to sort this problem out. Please can you advise me on my options. Do you think I should see a periodontist? I cannot find any in my area! Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

I’m terrified that I’ll loose all my teeth and I don’t want invasive surgery. What are my alternatives?

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010
Q.
I thought I had pretty good teeth, I am 53 and they are white and very good shaped. the Dentist said yesterday I have gum disease (deep kind at the bone) at back of both lower and upper. talking about gum surgery and other one hour sessions in the chair and lots of money I dont have. importantly I dont feel I can go through with the invasive side of this deep cleaning of root etc. Whats my alternative – would it cure me if I have them out – I just cant do this and I am terrified. I am manic about teeth and cant believe this has happened in 21/2yrs since all fine. whats the easiest way through it, general anaesthetic at dental hospital or have them out or what. Help!! Im sick with worry, how long have I got , will all my teeth fall out and how soon??????,

How can I prevent my gum recession from getting worse and is there any surgery to fix this?

Monday, April 12th, 2010
Q.
Hi there, I have got receding gums which are particularly bad on the lower teeth. I brush, floss and see the hygenist regularly but I think the recession is hereditary and it seems to be getting slightly worse. I have 2 questions: How can I prevent the recession from getting worse? Could you tell me a bit about gum surgery and how this would work with my receding gums please? How much would it cost? (there are 6 teeth that are most affected on the bottom) How long does it last? etc. Many thanks in advance for your advice, Janey,
