How can I prevent my gum recession from getting worse and is there any surgery to fix this?

Q. Hi there, I have got receding gums which are particularly bad on the lower teeth. I brush, floss and see the hygenist regularly but I think the recession is hereditary and it seems to be getting slightly worse. I have 2 questions: How can I prevent the recession from getting worse? Could you tell me a bit about gum surgery and how this would work with my receding gums please? How much would it cost? (there are 6 teeth that are most affected on the bottom) How long does it last? etc. Many thanks in advance for your advice, Janey,
A. I think you’re doing all the normal things to prevent the recession, surgery is only possible in certain situations and 6 teeth together is very difficult to treat. If the teeth aren’t all together then it maybe possible. you need to see a Periodontist for a full quotation regarding the price.
