Do you offer any treatment for the discolouration of gums? There is a treatment available in the USA but I am not aware of this in the UK.

Is it possible for gum tissue to grow back naturally once it has receded (assuming the gum disease has been treated successfully)?

Dear Dr Moore, I would really appreciate your advice on this as I’ve been given conflicting information so far.. Is it possible for gum tissue to grow back naturally once it has receded (assuming the gum disease has been treated successfully)? Or once the gums have receded do they never come back? Thanks for your help,

Are dentures my only option? Is it possible to utilize implants of any sort when bone loss and gum recession is a problem?

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
Hi I am 53 and following a course of peridontal treatment, I’ve been advised that I have suffered considerable bone loss and loss of gum tissue through gum disease which has gradually worsened. The worst area where the gum recession is most noticable is around my top front 4 teeth, which are crowned. The recession has increased dramatically since the full mouth disinfection treatment (scaling & root planing with periochips). I’ve been advised that the bone loss I’ve suffered means that it would not be possible to resolve the problem with dental implants. Furthermore, it would also be difficult to get a successful outcome via either replacement crowns – or bone regeneration techniques. Fortunately, the problem is not evident when I am generally speaking. Unfortunately, I have a ‘gummy smile’, so the problem is immediately evident when I laugh. This is now making me very self-conscious, so I tend to smile when my mouth closed. Not easy for someone who relishes a good sense of humour….!! So my questions are: Do I need to be considering the ‘D’ word already? Are dentures my only option? Is it possible to utilize implants of any sort when bone loss and gum recession is a problem? Can you offer any advice as to my best way forward? Thanks in advance!

What is the cost in US dollars of the cosmetic surgery procedure to even out my gum

Saturday, March 28th, 2009
Q.
I visited Dr. Janis Zarzeckis to see about a cosmetic surgery procedure and am interested in veneers as well. While getting a quote in the US, the dentist said I needed to even out the gum line to do the best job on veneers. He has a laser that is the most modern that limits bleeding and allows for rapid healing. Do you have that capability. Also what is the price in US dollars. You give the price in pounds and because of the exchange rate, it would not be cost effective for me to travel again to. Thank you so much for your information.

I am 64 and my gums are shrinking

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
Q.
I am 64 and my gums are shrinking and I am noticing a gap which looks as if I have food stuck between my gum and my tooth – this is becoming embarrassing and I was wondering if there was a procedure to correct this – or like the aching joints something I have to put up with! I don’t have any dentures. thank you for your help.

My gums are swolen and i am on Phenytoin for Epilepsy

Thursday, September 25th, 2008
Q.
Good Evening, Being on medication for Epilepsy for years my teeth and gums are not in very good shape. I have had no seizures for 2 years and i am currently still taking Phenytoin 100mg once a day. My gums are inflammed, teeth pushed forward which can sometimes hurt when brushing. I understand the medication has done this, and know i am at an age and in a professional position i would like to know if i can improve my smile and boost my confidence more. Is there any advice you can share with me? I am also not a very comfortable person when it comes to dentistry too. Many Thanks
