I am 64 and my gums are shrinking

Q. I am 64 and my gums are shrinking and I am noticing a gap which looks as if I have food stuck between my gum and my tooth – this is becoming embarrassing and I was wondering if there was a procedure to correct this – or like the aching joints something I have to put up with! I don’t have any dentures. thank you for your help.

A. Hi

It is sometimes possible to graft the gums to filling in the spaces if the bone underneath is healthy. You could also consider veneers or cosmetic white fillings. I would seek the advice of a experienced Periodontist
