I visit a perio every 3 months, i have had gum surgery

Q. Dr.Suri, I visit a perio every 3 months, i have had gum surgery in the past and have had quite a bit of bone loss. i’m not happy with my teet, becuase of the gaps and bone loss in my teet. will lava crowns be an option for me or lumineers. Thank you

A. Lava and Lumineers are both marked as commodities are are not necessarily the best thing for your teeth.
Lava crowns are very opaque and don’t look natural. I would never have a lava crown in my mouth and I would never put one in my patients mouth. Lava has a zirconia core which is very strong but the veneering process over the top of it has not been perfected yet and within 3 years studies have shown that 84% of zirconia crowns have porcelain fractures. If these were inthe front of your mouth you wouldn’t be happy. Lumineers are not the best thing for peoples teeth. They are only suitable in certain situations. Lumineers arev no diffrent from normal veneers, although dentists that carry out the procedure will tell you different. By all means investigate the options of Lumineers but also go to a dentist that has experience in carrying out restorative and cosmetic procedures with normal veneers. Have a look at portfolios of before and afters of both dentists so that you can decide what is best for you
Kind Regards
