Is it possible for gum tissue to grow back naturally once it has receded (assuming the gum disease has been treated successfully)?
Q. Dear Dr Moore, I would really appreciate your advice on this as I’ve been given conflicting information so far.. Is it possible for gum tissue to grow back naturally once it has receded (assuming the gum disease has been treated successfully)? Or once the gums have receded do they never come back? Thanks for your help,
A. As a rule the gum will not grow back even after successful gum treatment. If the bone support is present it is sometimes possible to graft tissue onto the gum to recreate some of the gum contour
