my husband has brown discoloured teeth and they are crooked what could be done

Thursday, May 21st, 2009
Q.
My husband (age 51) has brown, discoloured teeth. They are crooked. Some back teeth missing. He eats slowly because of the lack of some teeth! I just wondered what could be done to make his teeth look great? I suppose the cost could not be estimated without actually seeing him but is there an option for monthly payment scheme? (He does Bupa cover, however, I do not know what dental treament they cover apart from wisdom tooth removal).

Are Lumineers an alternative for Veneers to treat discolouration does the colour show

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
I have had root canal treatment on 2 of my front teeth and has a result there has been some discolouration. Most people say thay cant tell but i am very conscious of it. I have considered Veneers but have been put off by having tooth filed down. I have recently heard about Lumineers and wondered if this was an alternative? Would colour show through? What is cost? Many thanks

Porcelain veneers discoloured due to smoking

Saturday, April 4th, 2009
Q.
I had veneers put on my teeth about two years ago. However, they have now discoloured, probably because I have been smoking (not a lot, about 25 a week). Please can you tell me if it is possible to bring them back to their former whiteness? Thank you.

I have a discoloured tooth (to the right of my two main teeth). The discolouration is under the enamel therefore no amount of polishing or prophyflex will help

Q.
Hello Doctor. I have a discoloured tooth (to the right of my two main teeth). The discolouration is under the enamel therefore no amount of polishing or prophyflex will help. Would a veneer be my only option, if so would you recommend a porcelain or lumineer veneer? Many thanks in advance,

Q.
My Daughteris three years of age and has recently had a fall landing on her front.I have now noticed that her two front teeth are dark and discoloured. Could this be connected to the fall or could it be something else? I am worried that her teeth will not return to the orginal colour

I have chipped yellow teeth with thin enamel can I get veneers on nhs?

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Q.
My teeth are jagged (from child hood grinding in my sleep)and also slightly yellowing. Futhermore, the front quarter of my tooth is now chipped. The enamel on my left front tooth is so thin on the bottom (see through) that it looks likley to do the same at some point. I have Cystic Fibrosis which means that I have had to eat a high calorie diet to sustain my weight from birth and I also take regular antibotics orally and via a nebuliser and inhalers which have not helped either. I also have severe vitimain D deficiancy which I am on medication for. My dentist is unsympathetic. Her latest attempt at covering my chip looks terrible and discoloured. In three years I have had the tooth filler/cover re-done four times already as it keeps coming off. It means that I not avoid certain foods such as apples for instance. Its starting to affect my confidence. Do you think I would be a suitable candiate for veeners and would I be able to get them on the nhs? I cant really afford them but at 26 I just want a solution that will protect my own teeth (especially the enamel) and that is strong and long lasting so that I can smile with confidence. Thank-you.

Stains on my filling causing discoloring

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hello. I am 27 years old and have had fillings placed on many of my front teeth. My specific question is about teeth numbers 8 and 9. I feel the feelings are old (5 years) and they have small discolorations. I don’t mind the discolorations, but I don’t trust them. They don’t look bad until I shine a light on them and it’s like the stains get five times bigger and glow. I’ve asked my dentist and he tells me they are just stains. If they are stains I don’t care, but all my cavities have started with discolorations. I had a cleaning recently and the hygenist didn’t mention these at all, even when I asked she just said she didn’t know. The one actaully has a very small brown groove I can catch my fingernail in. Should I get a second opinion? Also, on the one tooth, from what I can tell, the “stain” is surrounding the edge of the filling. I would hope that my dentist would understand my worry concerning cavities on these teeth, but I don’t know if he actually cares. And if you could, can you tell me if a previous composite resin has to be completely removed for a new one to be placed?

I have had three courses of internal bleaching and although this has worked on most of the tooth the neck of the tooth remains discoloured?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Q.
Hi, I am 27 years of age. I have recently had my front canine tooth root canalled. The dentist believed it was suffering from internal resorption and appeared to be a reddish/brown colour. I have had three courses of internal bleaching and although this has worked on most of the tooth the neck of the tooth remains discoloured? Do you know why this could be? How can I resolve this? How long does the tooth remain white after bleaching? Will it darken again in a few years and how can I avoid this if this is the case? How can I ensure the results remain the same indefinately? Can I wear braces on a root canelled tooth? I am really concious of the problem with my front tooth and would appreciate your advice.
