I sucked my thumb as a child and have had problems with my smile all my life, i also have gum disease, what should I do?

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011
Q.

I sucked my thumb as a child (I am now nearly 60) and subsequently my teeth stick out. I was called goofy at school. I have had 3 teeth removed from my upper jaw either side of my front teeth (2 on one side and one on the other) I also have gum disease. My top 2 front teeeth have been crowned and one of the crowns is moving so it all looks a bit of a mess!
I have been very self conscious for years and I would love to have a better smile but apart from being nervous of the dentist I am also very embarrased and put my hand over my mouth when I laugh!
Cn you help me, please?

I’ve had a crown fitted and my bite is uncomfortable, would another dentist reshape or redo it?

Monday, January 24th, 2011
Q.

Hi doctor,
I had a crown put onto my teeth after a root canal treatment. However, I feel that it isn’t placed right and my bite feels different and uncomfortable. I want to know if I can go to another dentist and ask him/her to reshape it to make my bite feel more comfortable. My question is, will the crown be taken off and then put back on or will the doctor simply just reshape it using the burr? Also, would i need anesthesia for this procedure?

Thursday, January 20th, 2011
Q.

i have crohns disease, and had twelve inches of my intestine removed last may (07). Since then because of the effect the disease had on my relationship with my husband (he couldnt cope) my marriage has broken up and im on a low income with two children. I was extremely ill and in severe pain and distress for two years before i was diagnosised and almost lost my life a couple of times. About six of my top front teeth decayed badly (probably because of vomiting a dozen times a day. Know I am looking at a four figure dental bill for the crowns that i am having put in. (Dod’nt get me wrong, I worship my dentist for having nice teeth at last, but as I was so long undiagnosid can the nhs foot the bill? thankyou

Hi,
I am in phase one of front teeth dental crowns. I have the temporay crowns and I am waiting for my permanet crowns. The shape of the temporay crowns seem to run on a angle up hill not straight across. Is this how my permanet ones will be

Should I get a crown after my root canal treatment?

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011
Q.

Hello, I have had pain in my back tooth on eating or drinking anything cold for over a year now. I recently visited Andrea Ubhi’s dental practise in York, on the first visit I was told I needed root canal treatment, on the second visit that I needed a crown fitting because of a crack in my tooth?! I would be greatful if you could advise me on what do you suggest I do now? Thanks.
