My dentist is fitting crowns and creating an overbite, why is this recommended?

Q.
i am getting crowns for my front teeth (6 in total). she is also saying that she will create an overvite. everything i see on internet is to correct an overbite. why would this be a recommedation during crown process
A.
Dear Enquirer,
In the normal dentition, there is a natural overbite between the upper and lower teeth. Overbites only need to be corrected when they are not in the normal range which is what you’ve probably been reading on the internet.
Please get clarification from your dentist so you are reassured, but when we are restoring front teeth we always build the teeth so they function correctly with the required overbite for the individual patient.

Sunita

You can place a crown on any tooth. You’re bite would need to assessed and the material used decided on by the dentist.
