I’ve Started Feeling Some Discomfort After A Deep Cavity Filling. Is It Normal For A Cavity Filling To Take This Long To Heal?

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014
Q.

I had a dentist appointment on for a cleaning. I was not experiencing any problems but my dentist said that I had 2 cavities that needed to be filled. I had those filled a week later. About two weeks later, I started feeling some discomfort, so I went back and he said the bite was off so he did some drilling and had me bite down and said it should be better. I am still experiencing the same problem. I went back a week after that and he did not do anything and told me to be patient. Is it normal for a cavity filling to take this long to heal? I hope you can help me with this.

Why did my tooth break off like that?

Friday, September 3rd, 2010
Q.
Hi, my 3rd from back (molar) tooth has broken during my last dinner when I chewed on a very hard piece of food. Only a small piece of my tooth came off and has not gone past my gum line, there is about 1 millimeter of tooth until the gum begins. There is no pain and it has previously (many years ago) had a filling. I obviously know i have to go the dentist, but I am just after maybe a reason for this happening and a rough guide of what will happen next. Thanks,

Is my tooth sensitive? Or is it cracked?

Friday, June 4th, 2010
Q.
I had a large feeling done on first molar about a year ago since then the tooth has been extremly sensitive. Last week I bit on hard nuts and a few days later the tooth became more sensitive then before. Went to dentists and xray shows nothing. The pain comes and goes when cold or hot anything touches it even air.. Some days it bothers me more then others. Does this sound like sensitivity or cracked tooth?,

Could my mouth be so sensitive because I had so many fillings at once?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010
Q.
On February 27, 2010 I went to my dentist and have 5 composite fillings done on my right side three on top two on the bottom. He said I had one that was deeper than he thought and he put some lime stuff to reduce sensitivity, and on and off I have had sensitivity to mostly cold. Here in the past couple of days I have needed advil to help with the pain. He said I was no where near needing any root canals (as those are a huge fear for me, Im scared of mouth pain) I have to take valium to get fillings done. When he did the other side I had the same thing, but I only had three fillings, after time passed, it went away. Could this be because I had so many fillings done at once, or could there be something else causing this, Im the biggest chicken there is when it comes to the dentist. What should I do? Please help, Im freaking out here. Mary Wells,

My recent fillings are causing me pain, any advice?

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010
Q.
Hello, Two/three weeks ago I had three fillings put in, however since then I have had really sensitive teeth (just on the teeth that the fillings went in to). I went back to my dentist and she said they were a little to high and filed them down. But this hasn’t seem to work and I can’t even bite on the teeth as it hurts so much, It also causes me pain when I have cold or hot drinks. Is there something wrong with the fillings? Should I visit another dentist for advice. Many thanks for your advice in advance.
