Is my tooth sensitive? Or is it cracked?

Q. I had a large feeling done on first molar about a year ago since then the tooth has been extremly sensitive. Last week I bit on hard nuts and a few days later the tooth became more sensitive then before. Went to dentists and xray shows nothing. The pain comes and goes when cold or hot anything touches it even air.. Some days it bothers me more then others. Does this sound like sensitivity or cracked tooth?,
A. hi it is probably a cracked tooth or slow death of the nerve within the tooth as a result of the deep filling or bacterial toxins i would advise root canal
