my top teeth seem to go inside of my bottom teeth and crooked could nhs cover any of this

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi Kailesh, I came to see you several months ago, with regards to having several veneers and crowns fitted, to help straighten my teeth. My top teeth seem to go inside of my bottom teeth, and are crooked, partially I believe due to wrong diagnosis when I was younger, and teeth being removed incorrectly & a brace which created the ‘underbite’ effect. You very kindly spent a quite some time with me, and explained how a combination of whitening, veneers & crowns could really give me what I am looking for, as it really does effect my confidence, which isn’t great as my career in finance requires utmost confidence! My question is, I never proceeded with the treatments at the time, as firstly it was expensive (over £10k in total) which I didn’t have, and secondly as I found out I was pregnant with my first baby! I am now 7mths pregnant and wondered if at all, any of this work could be covered by the NHS, as although it is mainly for cosmetic purposes, it would help me massively with my confidence. I desperately want the work done, and have even considered having it done abroad after I have had my baby to cut costs, and any pointers on me finding a way to proceed without the massive costs would be greatly appreicated (especially as I will soon have a little mouth to feed!) Many Thanks

i have a serve lupus and now have a gap in the teeth how could i go about looking into this

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
Q.
I have very serve lupus and have had major problems with my teeth and gums… When I was younger I had a brace fitted to my top and bottom teeth twice but this only flared my gums making them red and prone to bleeding.. It was not known that I had lupus at this time so they were removed by my dentist.. I have horrible un slightly teeth that are uneven and cause me a lot of heartache and self confidence issues. I now have a gap where I have lost a tooth. I was told that due to my medical condition that I may be eligible for cosmetic dentistry on the nhs, if this is so would you know how I would go about looking into this and it’s becoming more of an issue for me. Thanks

would a cosmetic dentist offer a superior service compared to local dentist?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, i’m 45yrs old and very self conscious about my smile even though i do get compliments on my looks it doesn’t change how i feel. my top front teeth have shortend over the past 10yrs, i have been told my bite is OK and i could have vaneers applied to correct there appearance. my bottom teeth have a few gaps which need correcting and an orthodontic said a brace may correct this but my dentist is not sure this would and due to my age if the teeth would stay once corrected? i am very confused to what to do as i cannot afford financially to make a mistake .i live near Aberdeen and my dentist is local, how ever she does not appear to be confident in which would be my best options so i decided to visit a practice that specialize in cosmetic dentistry in Aberdeen called Fergus&Glover to get a second opinion. i was inspired by there knowledge and advice, they estimated that to create a nice smile again it would cost £16,000 this included vaneers, a replacement crown, whitening and any dentistry work. unfortunately i cannot afford that amount. so i wanted to ask you what do you think would be the best option would be to correct the bottom gaps and also would a cosmetic dentist offer a superior service compared to a local dentist? would the quality of the vaneers be a superior finish. kind regards,

Would home filling of a chipped tooth is safer than a private dentist

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
Q.
Hi, about 10 years ago, when i was about 11 years old,i fell in the shower and chipped my front teeth. At the time, the dentist filed down my teeth to straighten them out but, i guess, he couldnt straighten them completely because of the bite. So now, i am left with slighty wonky teeth, making a small upside V shape between the two. This really upsets me and hinders my confidence. I recently went to the dentist to ask for a cap or some extra filing but he said he couldnt as the cap would be too small whilst filing would be problematic for my bite. But to be honest, i’m not to bothered about my bite as i have an underbite anyway, i just want my teeth to be straight! Is there anything i could do? would private dentists do the job? or ive even read about home filing on the internet, is this really safe? Thankyou…
