My two central incisors are chipped on the frontal side

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Q.
Hello :)I’m not too sure how this happened, but my two central incisors are chipped on the frontal side. The dentin is actually showing through on one. There are deep lines on those teeth – best way to describe it. It’s painful and sensitive. I’ve been told to get veneers(too expensive for me), but I was wondering if it would be possible to put a composite material on it and polish. Do you have any suggestions. I’m in dental school right now, so hopefully once I get in an office maybe veneers could be an option.Right now, it’s not resonalbe for me though.

What is the life span of composite veneers?

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009
Q.
Hi Komal I am 33 and over the past few years I have undergone extensive dental treatment and maxillofacial surgery on my lower jaw. I am quite happy with the results, however my 4 front upper teeth are still not straight and there is a dark triangle/space inbetween my two fron teeth. I recently visited a cosmetic dentist who advertised lumineers. After a consultation costing £200 the dentist told me that composite veneers would be best for the 4 upper teeth. He suggested that I could get ones at £400 per tooth or £500 per tooth as he didn;t think limineers were best for me at £900 per tooth? I was quite happy with the results of the mock up and he told me the £500 composites per tooth would last 10 years. I have been reading up on the internet and am now a little concerned as the life span doesn’t seem to be as long. Also I didn;t want any reduction of my own teeth so he said composite was best. The overall treatment for 4 teeth will cost £2100 plus the £200 consultation. Can you advise if you think the composite veneers are best for me and if so if this price is reasonable?

I have composite veneers on the buccal surfaces of 3 teeth. Over time they have discoloured and worn and need re-doing. Can you please tell me what kind of price I can expect to pay to have them removed and re-done again in composite material. Thank you

I was totally dental phobic as a child due to bad

Monday, November 3rd, 2008
Q.
I was totally dental phobic as a child due to bad expereinces at the dentist with tooth extractions and, as a consequence, I never wore a brace. Now, as a result, I have severely crowded teeth. The 4 front teeth (incisors?) aren’t really affected and are relatively straight but the canine teeth stick out Dracula-like to the extent that I can’t bite on them at all and they poke through my lips if I smile. There is really very little gap between the second insisors and the premolars next to them and the canines stick out above them. Can anything be done for me? I don’t want to wear a brace at my age (early 40s) and think my only hope is to have the canines removed and try to do something with the remaining teeth. My teeth really are the bane of my life and have made my life a complete misery over the years. It seems to be getting worse lately and is making me quite depressed and is having a real negative effect on my life to the point that I feel quite depressed most of the time. They are on my mind constantly and I have no one to really share all this anxiety with as I feel so embarrassed about my teeth I won’t draw attention to them. I even change the subject if anyone so much as mentions teeth! I feel that if I could get my teeth fixed all this would stop and I could finally enjoy my life and actually smile and not feel scared or embarrassed to smile. Nowadays, I read about all the marvellous advances in cosmetic dentistry and I think more and more that a few thousand pounds spent on my teeth would be money well spent if it made me feel that my life was worth living. To me, to have teeth that I didn’t feel embarrassed to show the world would be better than wining the lottery. Can you help or advise?

what is the cost of composite on a chipped tooth

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008
Q.
How much should I expect to pay for a bit of composite on a chipped tooth? My dentist seems to charge whatever goes and he never seems to have a clear cut pricing policy, although he is extremely good at what he does, hence he can charge whatever he likes! I’d just like to know what normal dentists charge. Thanks

do you know a cosmetic dentist in chennai

Sunday, October 26th, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr Komai Suri, The website looks really good and useful and is the first I have seen of this kind. I want to ask what I should or could do about my teeth which have been worn down by grinding at night. I’m 28 and have now started to wear a mouthguard. The tips of my front teeth are transparent and sometime shatter due to years of wear during the night. My dentist at home would simply grind off the very end to make them even again..however this can’t go on for ever and I now notice the length as well as the transparency. Would veneers be an option if I was to continue with the mouthguard? The other and perhaps most important question is how I can find a very good dentist for this sort of things here in Chennai, India, where I am now teaching for the next 2 years. ? Do you know of anyone, or could you put me touch with someone who might know or what should I do. The thought of taking a gamble on this sort of thing is terrifying!! Thankyou in advance for any help you can offer

Please advise whether it is worth visiting a cosmetic dentist

Saturday, October 11th, 2008
Q.
Please advise whether it is worth visiting a cosmetic dentist problems are as follows. I had braces fitted as a child as I had a very bad over-bite. The problem was never completely resolved, in my mid twenties I had caps fitted (x4) to try and improve the condition, which slightly improved the appearance. Teeth became infected and I had to have x 3 root fillings gums have now receded. 2 years ago I had an accident and my front tooth from knocked out and a cap is now attached to a peg – which is now loose. I am still very unhappy with the look of my teeth I never smile and I am becoming more and more depressed. Is there any way of straightening my teeth and improving the appearance?
