I have a small hole in my teeth and i need filling are they available only in NHS

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009
Q.
I recently went to the dentist and she found a small hole on one of my teeth. She has x-rayed it to check for decay and told me to come back. I have a couple of questions.. I am going away for the whole summer and can’t get an appointment before i leave, is my tooth likely to get worse in this period of time? Also, im terrified of needles, and have been told dentists use them to give pain killers when doing fillings -is there any other way my dentist will be able to give me pain killers? (on the nhs) Lastly, I’m worried about the appearance of fillings, I’ve never had one before and don’t want the ones that appear black, are they the only ones available as an NHS treatment? Thanks very much for your time.

My upper canines are crooked is it possible to have a dental filling or will i need to remove it

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Patel Both of my upper canines are crooked, lying flat against the vertical edge of my two front teeth, if you can picture that! I suspect I need a filling in the left canine and plan to visit my dentist soon. However, given that the tooth is so difficult to access, is filling it possible or will it need to be removed? I’m worried as I’m only 30 and have always been known for my lovely smile! Many thanks in anticipation,

The composite filling have started to chip at the sides is it like to solve this problem

Monday, May 4th, 2009
Q.
Hello. I have recently had somem composite fillings to fill the gap between my incisor and canine. The fillings have started to chip at the sides and near my gum. Can anything else be done for these fillings to be a sucess as I am really happy with the way they look, but not it they are going to keep chipping! I think that my bottom canine may be hitting the fillings when I eat – can this be shaved down? And is this likely to solve the problem? Thank you for your time,

Monday, April 20th, 2009
Q.
Hello, I have mercury fillings and would like to remove them, I was told that unless they are waring down and getting old I should not remove them, because the mercury released while removing the fillings is a much highter then the mercury being released from chewing. Is this true?
