Can You Give Me A Guideline For Implant Costs?

Wednesday, June 12th, 2013
Q.

Hi,

I have had a front tooth missing for about 12 years now, from an fall at university.

They tried to save it for me but it needed to be taken out, and ever since ive had a bridge with wings.

Over time the frequency of me needing to get my bridge re-cementing has increased.

I think its finally time to get an implant, but im totally blind to the costs.

I fear it could run into the £k’s having spoke to a dentist this morning as I understand you cant go through the NHS. I also need to pay £100 for the consultation. Is this normal ?

I would never have questioned it, but since I had laser eye surgery and understanding the price ranges/reductions/ haggling I was alarmed and I needed to………. I thought I best check with an expert for a guideline bracket.

Thanks

My Teeth Move Even Though I Wear My Retainer, Help?

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor! So, my problem is that I had fixed braces 7 years ago, then my dentist removed them after 1 year and from that time to now I am using a retainer .. but still if I don’t use it for only an hour my teeth move back to there original position .. I am really tired of it now :/ M dentist is suggesting that I go and get a bridge done on my front 6 teeth .. Now firstly can you tell me what that is? As I haven’t got a clue what a bridge is. Also I would like to know what you think that I should do about this? Like your general opinion because I am really frustrated now. Pleeeeeaseee helpppp ,  I have to tell you as well that my retainer breaks off so easily, even though I take so much care of it .. :/ Nightmare

My Two Orthodontic Consultations Have Conflicted With Each Other, Which Is Correct?

Monday, April 29th, 2013
Q.

Hi doctor!!

I have got a dental bridge done in my back upper tooth and also have an open bite.

I have been advised to have some orthodontic treatment as there is a slight overlap in my incisors and also the adjacent tooth are slightly smaller.

I have consulted two dentists and have got a little confused, hence the query.

While one says it can be sorted out by braces which will take 8-10 months or I can just get the front 4 teeth corrected by replacing my teeth with artificial ones which can enhance the smile, the other doctor is of the opinion that as I have a bridge, braces would be complicated and might take 2 years to correct the alignment or I can just get the front 4 tooth corrected by grinding them and placing veneers on top.

Also, I have read that veneer
s are not a good option for people who grind teeth at night and I am one of them.

Please suggest what should i do,.

Thanks in advance.

Should I choose a traditional or maryland bridge to replace four lower teeth?

Monday, March 18th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I am currently choosing between a traditional or maryland bridge, and wondered if you could offer an expert opinion on the decision. The cost is about the same, and it is needed to bridge the gap between my lower incisors, so is needed to replace four removed teeth. I have been advised that the main risks are nerve problems for the crowns that have to be done for the conventional bridge, and the risk of dislodging for the maryland bridge, but that they maryland may be the better solution when fewer missing teeth are involved. Would you be able to offer any advice please?

My Bridge is Affecting A Nearby Filled Tooth, What Can Be Done?

Friday, March 15th, 2013
Q.

hi there, i have recently been fitted with a maryland bridge just (3rd from the last tooth at the upper back). The tooth was missing for over 20 years so i have suffered from quite severe gum recession in this area. the tooth next to the bridge has a large filling and since the bridge, I have had nothing but pain, sensitivity and more pain. It is not even like I can pin an exact cause or anything either because the pain comes with pretty much everything in my day to day life. So like it will come with pressure, with any food or drink that is hot, cold, warm, anything that contains even a little bit of sugar, it’s everything. I’ve been back 6 times and the filling changed but this has made no difference. Should I ask for the bridge to be removed?

My Partial Dental Plate Has Caused Gaps Which I Would Like Fixed, Could I Get A Bridge?

Wednesday, March 13th, 2013
Q.

I have been wearing a partial dental plate for many years. This has badly affected my gums and I have lost teeth through it. The remaining teeth (all of the front ones) are however solid. But they have gaps between them now as they’ve moved and I wondered about getting a bridge to sort this out. Would this be possible given my previous problems? A dentist upset me a few years ago by telling me she didn’t think it was worth spending any money on my mouth as the x-rays showed too much bone damage. But I really want to have teeth without gaps as its bothering me now. I don’t smoke or drink.

My Front Teeth Have A Gap Between Them And My Incisors Are Missing, What Are My Options?

Tuesday, March 12th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr,

I have a gap between my two front teeth and I’m missing my incisors either side of these teeth. I am really quite concerned as it is knocking my confidence a bit seeing as though it just makes my mouth look really really gappy. What would be the best solution without being to invasive? I’ve read through the different procedures and stuff so I know what they involve and I just think that it would be good to know which one I would need and the cost of this.
My teeth are really strong so I would want them to be removed but It would be nice to smile normally one day.

Thank you.

Are the implants the same for dentures and for the bridge? Why the big differance in price?

Friday, February 15th, 2013
Q.

I have no teeth in the upper jaw and only 5 teeth in the lower jaw. I would like to know. If the implants are the same for dentures and for the bridge.
it cost 2900 for 6 implants with a denture and 8800 For 8 implants and a fixed bridge. Why the big differance in price. And if i had the 6 implants with the denture. Can i use the 6 implants In 1 years time to then have a bridge made when i have more money. Thank you very much.

What alternatives are there to dental implants?

Friday, February 15th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I have just been to my local dentist and I need my front tooth removing as soon as possible, my other front tooth is already a bridge and thisis attached to the one I need taking out but she said that I can not have a dental bridge fitted, I could just have dentures but I’m twenty-nine years old and don’t want to be walking about with dentures in my mouth, my teeth either side of front ones are in good health though so why can’t I get a bridge fitted if this is the case, I can’t afford dental implants anyway so I want something else which will be more permanent, what would you recommend in this particular case?
