I have had braces for two years and my dentist said I should get a tooth taken out for overbite. Can you give me any advice?

I Know this is silly, but I wanted to get a second opinion! I have been in braces for 2 years now going on to 2 1/2. My last appointment my orthodontist said that I have a bit of an overbite and that he wants to take out one tooth. I asked if it would change my smile dramatically and if he highly suggested it, but all he said

Would I be able to get my teeth fixed on the NHS without braces?

Wednesday, December 15th, 2010
Q.

Hi there. I’m a 17 year old student and I was wondering if I’m able to get my teeth fixed on the NHS without having to have braces? Nearly all of my teeth are un-straight and out of place, my two front teeth are longer than the rest and I have two at the top on either side right at the back that have grown where they shouldn’t have.

What treatment is available to correct a prominent gum line?

Friday, December 10th, 2010
Q.

I’m 18 and have just finished my braces treatment, my teeth are straight, but my gums are quite big, making my teeth appear smaller , which is really noticeable when i smile really big or laugh, also although my teeth are straight there is still a tiny tiny gap between my two front teeth, so not perfectly joined together. They were like this when the braces came off so it is not lack of wearing retainer etc. What would you suggest me do? As at the moment i do feel self conscious when smiling.

Will braces permanently close the gap in my front teeth?

Friday, December 10th, 2010
Q.

Hello Dr.
Am 15 years old and I have a gap between my two top front teeth. I have always wanted to get braces, but I have been told that if I got any, they’ll only close up the gap for a few years then it’ll be back again because I was born with the gap in my teeth.
I would please like to verify from you how true this information is; as well as the possibilities of any health risks getting braces that will close up the gap completely could have on me.

Is it possible to have braces done through my insurance policy?

Thursday, December 9th, 2010
Q.

Hi Dr Kailesh,
I have a question, my teeth are not straight and I got denied a few months ago by my insurance company for braces, and I would like to know what I can actually do to make them approve me(my appeal time is also over)
I was also thinking of getting invisalign and would like to know if that will work faster than damon braces.. also is there a way that I can have surgery to get my teeth straightened out?
Thank you so much,I appreciate your time.

What is the quickest treatment to straighten a bad cross bite?

Thursday, December 9th, 2010
Q.

I have a pretty bad cross bite on my bottom right 3 and i want it fixed, but i have my “prom” in a few months and i would like my tooth fixed by then and to be out of braces, like for photos, do you have any suggestions for a quick way to repair my problem, also my other teeth are very slightly disaligned I’m ok with them, but fixing them as well would be a bonus. thanks
