I Suffer From Gum Disease And Gaps Are Appearing From Tartar Building Up. Would A Bridge Work For Me?

Thursday, November 7th, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Shaffie, I have been told I have quite bad gum disease but I do clean and floss regular but have always suffered from bad gums and as a result I have widening gaps at the front top four teeth.

I am having cleaning to remove tartar and build up this coming week. I really want to get my smile back.

What are my options would a bridge be okay once the gum disease has been addressed? If so what’s the time frame for this type of procedure?

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide me with.

What Is The Fastest Way To My Straighten Teeth Under 3000? Which Method Is The Safest?

Monday, October 28th, 2013
Q.

I would like to know what’s the fastest way to straighten my teeth under £3000. I only have one tooth my lateral incisor that I worry about. Do I need braces on all my teeth or just that one? Or is there any other method? Which method works the best, and which method is the safest? What method latest the longest? Are there any things I should stay away from? What about whitening teeth? Even more what type of method do actors and actresses receive? I hope you can help me, Dr Gambroudes.

I Have A Protruding Fang Which Bugs Me, Should I Have It Removed?

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, as I’ve grown up, I was meant to have braces when I was younger but I didn’t because my mum neglected it, so I ended up with one protruding tooth on my top row, it looks like a fang which bugs me. After many years of feeling self-conscious about this, I would really like to see if there is a way I can get a relatively normal smile. It doesn’t have to be perfect, I just want the fang removed or something along those lines, please offer your advice and help me with this matter on what would possibly be the best course of action. Thanks.

I Have Recently Bought A Home Teeth Whitening Kit, And Would Like To Know Which Foods To Avoid?

Wednesday, October 16th, 2013
Q.

Hi,
I have recently bought and had fitted a home teeth whitening kit from my dentist following fixed braces being removed.
I have started a 2 week process but I am really concerned about what I can and cannot eat, I am trying to avoid drinking tea but have been given various different recommendations by friends, etc. Can you please tell me if I should only eat white foods ie, pasta, rice, bread or if I can eat most foods but avoid tea/coffee/curry – can I eat meat or should I just stick to fish or chicken?
A detailed list of what to avoid would be really useful. I am drinking hot water in place of tea and am experiencing a tiny bit of sensitivity, I have only started 1 application of 6% strength so far. Kind regards.

I Have A Gap Between My Front Teeth And Wonder If The NHS Would Help Fix This For Me?

Tuesday, October 15th, 2013
Q.

I have had a gap in between my teeth since childhood. This gap has expanded over the years and has become significantly noticeable. I would like to know the different options available to me and how I can go about it? The gap is in my front teeth and it’s rather embarrassing and is affecting my self esteem. I have done a little research, but the prices are relatively high, I was wondering if the NHS would consider such treatments free. Please give me relevant information and procedures on how to embark on this journey. Thank you and I hope you can help me.

I Need Braces To Open Up A Space For Dental Implants. Can Braces Be Placed Over A Maryland Bridge?

Monday, October 14th, 2013
Q.

Hi there, I had braces as a child to open up space for my missing lateral incisors to be placed with dental implants when I was old enough, now I am 18 years old and have been told I will need braces once again as there is not enough space in the roots for dental implants, I am getting braces to open up roots space for dental implants for my missing laterals which are currently replaced with a Maryland bridge, can braces be placed over the bridge I have? Also what is the estimated time for the braces to open up a few mm of root space?

How Long Will It Take For Braces To Open Up A Gap For A Dental Implant To Be Fitted?

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013
Q.

Hello there Dr Shaffie, when I was Twelve years old I had braces to open up a space. This space had to be opened up in order to compensate for my missing lateral incisors which had to be replaced with dental implants. Now I am Eighteen years old and have been told there is not enough space in the roots to place the actual dental implant and I have been advised to have even more orthodontic treatment, I am just wondering if I need the braces, then how long it would take to open up roughly 3/4mm of space for dental implants to be placed? Thanks, I really hope you can help me sort this problem out?

I’m Getting Married Next Year And Want To Know Cheap Options For Treatment?

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013
Q.

Hello, Dr Patel. My query is that I have a tooth right next to my two top front ones that appears to be moving very far back to the point now when I have a photo people ask if I have a tooth missing, I am extremely upset and distressed by this especially as I am due to get married next year and want to be able to smile in my photograph without worrying at the back of my mind, I had braces when I was younger and foolishly took them out with pliers as I was so self-conscious of them. But now I need to find a way that is cheap, to make me smile again and I am not sure how to do it. Can you provide me with any information? Many thanks.

I Have A 2-3mm Gap Between My Two Front Teeth, Would I Have A Lisp If I Got Them Bonded?

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013
Q.

Hello, Doctor Patel. I’d like to start by telling you firstly that I have a gap about 2-3mm wide between my two front central incisor teeth, and I would like to have the cosmetic bonding treatment on them to close up the gap, but I wanted to know if this would cause me to have any problems speaking, for example, is there a chance that I could start to develop a lisp? Also, I would also like to know if my two front teeth would look rather wide after the treatment has taken place?
Thank you, I really hope you can get back to me on this one.
