I live in Canada but am visiting England for a few weeks, could I get a brace in England?

Q.

Hello Dr Safeer Butt. 🙂
I actually live in Canada but I was hoping you could still be of assistance in my particular case. I was just wondering how much it would cost me to get braces in England as i may be coming for a few weeks. As you may know braces are extremely expensive here and iwanted to know how much the prices are there. I dotn mind the traditional braces but a brief overview of the cost would help. Also how ong would it take for me to keep them on, and when can i remove them. Plus i know you have to get them tightened every month so can i just get it tightened in canada?
Thanks for your time Dr!

What other options than braces does my 14 year old daughter have?

Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Q.

my 14 yr old daughter has seen an orthodentist who has said she needs 4 extractions and then a brace. she has only minor crowding on the bottom front teeth at one side and doesn’t like her pointy canines at the top which are noticible when she smiles.the dentist said she needed the extractions to be able to line up her bite correctly. on looking at her the teeth are only a couple of mm off and not really noticible. given that her issues seem quite minor would she be able to correct the canines with veneers to achieve as nicer look without all the extractions and braces.

Can you use veneers to correct an overbite problem?

Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Q.

Hello doctor can you use veneers to correct a problem overbite – I have been advised to have 6 upper veneers and 8 lower venners and to have all the work completed at once ( in a series of visits) as the dentist would be correcting a very problematic overbite and grinding problem. Surely, with this kind of problem would veneers on the front lower teeth be advisable in the first place? and what options do I have for improving the appearance of the lower teeth and to stop the wear ffrom the grinding? Many thanks for your time

Would veneers help fixed my twisted teeth?

Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Q.

Hi Dr Glaister,

When i was very young (I’m now 30) I slipped over in the bath and cracked my right upper central incisor (this has a vaneer on it now) and damaged my left upper central incisor, so that it began to turn inwards. It has now turned about 45 degrees inwards and looks very unpleasant. I would like to have the right one looked at and possibly repaired as the vaneer was not applied perfectly and is slightly misshapen. I would also like to repair the left one so that it looks normal again. While growing up I had a 2mm gap between my 2 upper central incisors, but that’s no longer there as my left upper is sitting just slightly behind my right. What would you recommend? How much is it likely to cost? How soon could I have it done?

Kind Regards,

Brace has made my tooth worse!

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011
Q.

Hi there di could you answer me a question please it would be off much assistance , I wore braces for three years and then a retainer for 18 months as a teenager and they straightened my teeth. I am now in my early 20s and one of my front teeth has moved over the past year or so and is now visably sticking out. What would be my options for moving it back? This wasn’t actually a problem before my teenage dental treatment! I don’t really want to go back to the days of train-tracks again, but equally it is making me self-conscious. I’m also not the best at dealing with pain! Please help! help please.

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011
Q.

I have always dreamed of being able to smile without the thought of dont smile to much in my mind,i have a bit of a crooked smile across my top 4 front teeth that i now wish i would have had fixed as a child, being as i am in some financial hardship at this point in my life,i was wondering if there is anything i could do to have my smile fixed by whatever means needed be it a brace, veneers, whatever it took, but at a price plan i could afford as i am now 27 and to old to qualify for cosmetic work on the nhs.Or has being a misguided and careless youngster ruined my chances of ever being able to live as the confident happy girl i know i could be if only i could SMILE and LAUGH without hiding my mouth,it may sound silly but deep down this problem is central to my life, your advice would truly help, thanku for taking the time to read this i hope you will find time to reply x

Dear Dr.,

I am a female 25 years old and i have tonsillitis. i went to dentist to put orthodontic braces and the doctor told me that i have to make a surgery to remove the Tonsils first otherwise even if i straighten my teeth now, it will get crooked again.
