Is this normal to have a grey line on the front two top teeth?

Monday, August 24th, 2009
Q.
My 3 year old daughter has suddenly developed a grey line going down her front two top teeth. It looks like someone has drawn on them with a pencil. Is this anything to worry about. Her teeth feel smooth so there are no ridges. Any advice and help much appreciated.

Are the newly grown gums strong enough to hold the new tooth?

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009
Q.
When my son was a toddler he knocked his two bottom teeth on a table. They were not knocked out, but were very loose. Luckily they were okay and becam stronger, he is now 4 and a few months back he opened a bottle with a pull lid with his teeth. One of the two teeth became lose. I thought it would just fall out, months later it is still just lose, causing no pain. The other day I noted his gum was receeded. I assumed this was due to the wobbly tooth. This morning, it fell out, the tooth that is. I am worried that when his new teeth advenualy grows through the gum will still be low and not hold his tooth. Will his gum grow back, and hold his new tooth?

My daughter is 15 and she still has her front milk tooth please advice?

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009
Q.
Hi My daughter has a front milk tooth that has not fallen yet. She is 15 years old. This has made one of her permant front middle teeth to get pushed on top of the other front middle tooth. My questions are 1. would it be best to get the milk tooth extracted 2. Put braces to correct the position of the teeth in the entire upper jaw, and would this push the front teeth into correct position. 3. Is she too old now for us to rectify this. Cheers

Is the colour of the permanent tooth affected by the colour of the baby tooth

Sunday, August 9th, 2009
Q.
Hi, when my daughter was 2 she fell with a dummy in her mouth and hurt her upper front tooth. At first it seemed fine but gradually changed to a grey colour. I asked our dentist about it on each check up and he said it was fine but the nerve had died, but that it wouldn’t affect her adult tooth. It has never caused her any problems or shown any signs of infection (she has never had it xrayed). She is now 7 and still has this baby tooth but the adult tooth is now pushing through the gum above and is now about 1/4 through and i think this too looks slightly greyish (her other upper tooth is pushing through the gum in the same way, with the baby tooth still in place and is about half way through, so i can compare the colours and i do feel that there is a difference). I am not worried about the baby teeth not falling out yet as this happened on her bottom teeth and they are fine now but i am worried about the colour. Is it likely to be grey and if so will it be permanent or can something be done about it, i have now read that maybe her grey baby tooth should have been pulled years ago? Please let me know what you think as our next dental appointment is still several weeks away.

what is the time for my adult teeth to erupt after losing baby teeth?

Saturday, August 1st, 2009
Q.
Hi I’m 15 and still had two baby teeth (my canines). I got xrays and it revealed that my adult teeth were sort of coming in.. So my orthodontist recomended i get them pulled so i did. Its been about 1 month since i’ve gotten them pulled, i can see them through my gums and they hurt a bit when i touch that area. I was wondering how long they will take to erupt? or what is the average time for them to erupt after losing your baby teeth? Also i will be seeing my ortho in about 2 weeks. But i reeeaallly want to know if i could get braces with even my adult teeth missing? ( JUST THOSE TWO ) Thanks

Ive retained 6 milk teeth and implants is only option is there any insurance with covers implants

Sunday, July 19th, 2009
Q.
Dear Dr Moore, I am 29 and have retained over 6 milk teeth. X-rays revealed that I have no second teeth to replace them. Currently one is loose as my wisdom teeth has pushed it out of line and this is causing my bottom row of teeth to compact against each other. My dentist says implants are the only option, but I cannot afford them. He says I should get insurance, but every company I look at says that their insurance doesn’t cover implants. Could you suggest an insurance comapany that does? I can only eat on one side of my mouth and want to try and sort this out. Would insurers view this as a pre-existing condition and therefore not cover it? Please help
