Hi. I’ve got bad acid erosion on my teeth from living off of diet coke for years! My molars are particularly bad but also my front teeth have small chips. I have hardly any money and was just wondering if you knew of the cheapest possible out come I could have to repair some of this damage. I really do not want metal crowns as am a singer and this will completely knock my confidence. I am extremely upset I have let it get to this point and know there is no way I can pay thousands of pounds. I feel at a complete loss!
If you could let me know what you think may be the treatment I am looking at and if you know of any NHS dentist who would provide tooth coloured crowns on molars.
Thank you very much for your time.

Bad Diet Has Caused Acid To Erode My Teeth, What Is The Cheapest Way To Restore Them?
Monday, December 9th, 2013My teeth are very worn down due to severe acid erosion, how much should I expect to pay to have this problem fixed?
Tuesday, July 10th, 2012Hi Doctor Moore, I am a 38 year old man who has suffered with bulimia for many years, it is now in remision. I have a fair amount of acid erosion and shortening of my teeth. I see my dentist every six months and he tells me my oral hygeine is very good. I am concerned about how my teeth look and how long they will last. I feel it my be time to get something done. I am an anxious patient even though I am a health care profeesional, my anxiety is also exacerbated by the shame of being a male with this illness. Could you tell me what my options might be and how much I could be expected to spend.
Is it the usual practise to leave teeth without veneers after caps have been removed?
Monday, May 28th, 2012Hi
I am interested in getting porcelain veneers fitted, but am hesitant as I have been told I have to get my plastic caps drilled off first and wait two weeks to have my veneers fitted. My teeth underneath had worn away due to acidity and so do not have much enamel left after drilling and being capped.
My caps are on my four front top teeth so do not want to be without front teeth for this long.
I would like to know if it is possible to take off my plastic caps and have veneers fitted in one session. And also the price per tooth and location.
I look forward to hearing from you.
How can I stop acid erosion from damaging my teeth?
Thursday, April 19th, 2012I have just been diagnosed with sever tooth erosion. I am only 23 so I’m really worried. I don’t drink a lot of soft drink or juices and I drink at least 2L of water each day, so i’m confused on how it got this bad. But the dentist did say I have naturally acidic saliva, which makes a bit of sense, but why do I? and how can i get my saliva neutral?… I am now using tooth mousse, which i hope will help. What cosmetic procedures can I have to make my teeth stronger and have less ‘divots’. I don’t have any fillings or tooth decay as yet. Is there some sort of coating I can put over my teeth?
Is it likely that the cost of porcelain veneers will rise?
Wednesday, January 4th, 2012I have broken and worn front teeth either from grinding or acid erosion over the years, and I am considering porcelain veneers. Given that the treatment is expensive, and that the veneers only last 5 to 10 years, is the cost of replacements likely to be comparable to the initial treatment ? My fear is that although I might be able to find the funds for the initial treatment, i could end up being locked into unaffordable treatments into my old age ?
Will lumineers be the best option to treat the damage caused by acid erosion?
Tuesday, August 30th, 2011Dear Rob,
I’m 20 years old and have extremely sensitive teeth. Notably, this because I’ve suffered bad acid erosion to my teeth due to the diet during my younger years (As a further consequence, the enamel on my front teeth is very thin). Cold and hot foods/ drinks give me a very sharp and agonising pain. Even when I eat foods that aren’t affected by tempature such as chocolate, I feel a painful sensation that goes directly to my back teeth.
I’ve been looking into Lumineers as a way of correcting this problem. I was wondering because of my extreme tooth sensitivity would I be eligible to have them done on the NHS? I’ve decided against traditional veneers because of the unecessary tooth reduction and the fact that I do still have healthy teeth.
Thank you
My teeth are damaged due to bulimia, can you advise how to restore them?
Monday, April 4th, 2011 Hello, I used to have lovely straight and pearly white teeth.People used to comment on them all of the time. But for the past couple of years I have suffered terribly from bulimia and my wisdom teeth are coming in.
My once beautiful teeth have discoloured, the enamel and actual teeth have worn down and my front teeth have had a few mm chiped off them too from the acid erosion.
This combined with my wisdom teeth moving and therefore overcrowding my bottom jaw is extremely distressing.
Im not sure what action I can take to improve my teeth and hopefully restore them visually to their former glory.Ofcourse, I have stopped vomiting, but the effects are still plain to see.
What would you advise?
Kind regards
