Is it likely that the cost of porcelain veneers will rise?

Q.
I have broken and worn front teeth either from grinding or acid erosion over the years, and I am considering porcelain veneers. Given that the treatment is expensive, and that the veneers only last 5 to 10 years, is the cost of replacements likely to be comparable to the initial treatment ? My fear is that although I might be able to find the funds for the initial treatment, i could end up being locked into unaffordable treatments into my old age ?

Hi thanks for your email and Happy New Year

Yes the replacememt costs would be likely to be the equivalent of having the treatment done from scratch at that time, so in fact if 10 years passes, the fees would tend to be higher due to inflation. It’s very important that if you proceed with any investment of this sort that you make a contingency plan for replacement costs in the future.

The best thing for you to do right now is to find a good cosmetic dentist near you so that you can be fully assessed for your treatment needs and suitability before proceeding with any procedures. In heavy wear and erosion cases sometimes crowns are required instead of veneers and treatment can sometimes be quite complicated and difficult to manage. It’s important to slow down the rate of wear as soon as possible as the longer it goes on the more difficult and costly it tends to become to have it fixed.

Have a look at the list of dentists on the website and call to make a consultation appointment as soon as possible. Make sure you find out if the dentist has experience treating wear before going to see them – this is important.

Kind regards

Mark
