I Don’t Want Metal Braces But I Want To Sort My Teeth Out Because It’s Depressing Me, What Else Can Be Done?

September 3rd, 2013
Q.

I am a 29 year old female that has bad insecurities and suffer with depression due to the way my teeth are. I have two crooked teeth, and one is at the front and one is my fang. I’m a single mother of two and I really need them fixing the best and cheapest way possible. Please can you help me? I work in an office and are around people daily so metal braces are definitely a no in my book! I’m open to anything else that may help me I constantly have my hand over my face when I laugh and I hardly smile or have pics taken because of these dreadful teeth. I visit the dentist every six months so my teeth are in good condition I just want them straight. I hope you can help me as it really gets me down, kind regards.

I Need To Know How I Can Overcome My Fear Of The Dentist, As I’ve Neglected My Oral Health?

September 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Mark. My teeth are a bit of a mess partially due to my own fault and having a massive fear of dentists, and so I have been avoiding them for years (I even got rid of an abscess using raw garlic) however now I want to try and fix the damage as much as possible. I have lost four teeth their at the back so you can’t see them. My top two front teeth slightly turn inwards and I have been contemplating veneers? I am still really terrified of the dentist! How can I overcome this problem? Thank you for your time.

I Have A Sore Mouth After Root Canal Treatment, And I’m Worried I Might Lose A Tooth, Can You Help Me?

September 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello,
I hope you can help me please, I had RCT on a upper back tooth which was not successful I changed my dentist and had the RCT done again, it was very painful afterwards and took several months to settle down. My problem now is that there is a small old filling on the inside of this tooth which is making my tongue sore I spoke to the dentist about having the old filling redone and was told because it was attached to a larger filling it was best to leave it and he filed down the old filling to try to smooth it but this is not successful. I did look at the tooth with a small mirror to see for myself and the filling looks old but I also noticed a dark horizontal line just under the gum line on this tooth and when I touched it the tooth was tender, I am worried that some damage has been done to the tooth whilst having the two RCT.
I can’t afford to loose this tooth so please could you advise me what I should do, I would appreciate your knowledge regarding my problem.

Thank you so much

How Effective Are Braces Over A Bridge, And Will The Movement Of Teeth Be Restricted ?

September 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr. Andrew, I am wondering, if you could possibly advise me on my current dental condition. I am 24 and have a bridge on my upper four front teeth (the central and lateral incisors, as I believe they are called) as I had an accident and lost a central incisor and cracked the lateral. Now I wish to have orthodontic treatment on both my lower teeth and upper, as I have crooked teeth on the lower and an overbite (overjet) somewhat caused by the bridge. I wanted to ask how effective the braces would be over a bridge as the movement of the teeth underneath might be restricted by the bridge. What solution do you recommend? Thanks for your help.

I Need My Teeth Straightened After A Fight But I’m Worried They Might Crack, Could This Happen?

September 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hiya,

Let me first start by saying how it started, a few years ago when I was 16, I got into a fight and got punched in the mouth, it landed on my front upper tooth and now it’s been pushed back, it’s not major problem but I would like it straightened again so it will line up with the rest of my teeth, the only problem is that I am worried about is if there is crack across the centre of the tooth, would it still be able to be straightened? The crack isn’t major but it’s still there and I worry everyday that if I bite into something hard it could crack completely. Any help and advice will be appreciated, obviously I will not attempt to straighten it myself, I just want to know if it’s worth me making a trip to a cosmetic dentist?

Thanks.

I Have Had My Entire Set Of Teeth Fitted With Dental Implants But I’ve Noticed Some Are A Different Shade. Why?

September 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello, After having had problems with my teeth for most of my life, I have just had extensive work and had my entire teeth fitted with dental implants. The next day after the final treatment I noticed that the back quarter of the implants are now a different colour to the other three quarter of the implants. Is this normal? Or is it that the implants are just a different shade to the other implants as they were put in, in separate stages. I heard that they could look darker because I have two old teeth underneath the bridge, but I cannot see this being the case, could you tell me if this is possible? Thank you, I hope you can deal with my request.

I Need To Know If I Can Have A Tooth Replacement Via A Crown Instead Of Having To Wear Dentures?

September 2nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Patel, I need to tell you that I currently have a missing front tooth, and I am wondering if you know whether I can have a false one fitted via a crown, instead of having to wear dentures? I have stopped smoking as to help my dental hygiene and have lost most of my lower back teeth as well. My other related problems are that I get chronic indigestion and sore gums, and I have stained teeth due to a medicine I was given as a baby and had crowns fitted fifteen years ago to make me have white teeth. I keep on top of my oral health and brush my teeth twice a day and I also use cordisol mouthwash. I really hope you can guide me in these matters, kind regards and thank you.

I Am Nervous Around Dentists And Require Cosmetic Treatments, How Can You Help Me?

August 30th, 2013
Q.

I am a nervous patient and do not like going to the dentist. I always had six monthly check ups and once a year for many years. I have not been to the dentist for around two years now due to not having any money, loss of work etc. I need a gum graft in my lower tooth in the front. The gum started to recede around 5 years ago and has not been mentioned by the dentists I have visited. The dentists said that if it got worse it may need to be looked at. I have a lot of fillings but they have been good and given me no trouble and beside this I have been lucky with my teeth, now I am getting older I noticed a few problems. I have a loose wisdom tooth, not giving me any trouble but, I’m too worried to go to the dentist. Could this be done at the same time as a gum graft? Would I be able to be completely pull it out, if so how long would it take? I am frightened to let anyone touch the tooth because I do not want it to fall out. I would need to book somewhere for the night after treatment or can I get the train back? What is the cost? Would I be able to have it done in November and how many times would I need to come and see you after treatment?

I Love The Way My New Plate Looks, But It’s Given Me A Lisp. Can They Change It’s Shape?

August 30th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I want to tell you that I had top replacement plate made because my first plate was nine years old and I thought it was time to get a second one in case something happened to the only plate I had. Well, the new plate looks beautiful, but I now have a lisp. To me it seems like the palate is too deep on this plate. It is much deeper on this plate than on my other one. Do you know if they can alter the plate somehow? Is this a question a lot of people ask? I really do love the way my new plate looks, I just hate the lisp that it has given me. They advised that I try it and see if it goes away. What do they do to try and resolve this?

Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

Thank you.

I Have Had A Gap In My Teeth Since I Was Fifteen Years Old. What Can I Do To Resolve It?

August 30th, 2013
Q.

Hi. When I was younger I was fitted with a brace to close the gap at the front of my teeth, but it also appeared when my baby teeth either side of my front ones, fell out. There was no bigger ones coming through so I was fitted with a bridge with a black filler behind them which is very unattractive.

Also, after the brace was taken off my gap reappeared and pushed the bridge slightly, so now they are uneven.

I really want to fix this problem as I am 23 now and my teeth have been like this since I have been 15 and I have always had the gap there.

What can I do to resolve this?

Thank you.
