Ive got white spots where my braces use to be do i need more drastic treatment to remove it

Q. I had braces for about 2 years I got them off about a year ago I have white spots where my braces use to be and they look horrible and I also have a few fillings on my bottom front teeth.what do you recommend on getting rid of the spots will microbrasion work or do I need more drarastic treatment

A. White spots around where your braces were are signs of decalcification of the enamel.
This means that it is the early signs of decay. As long as they stay white, it means that the deacy has arrested and that it is no longer doing any harm. If the white spots start to turn brown and go soft, then the decay is still active and you need further treatment.
The reason for getting early decay around your braces- is simply snacking on sugary foods/drinks between your meals and not brushing properley. It is quite common as braces are very difficult to clean around.
To get rid of these white spots, the only treatment inclused composite fillings or porcelain veneers. These are quite drastic measures and I would advise you to monitor them for now. You may even learn to live with them. Hope this has helped.
