I have an infected tooth which I feel needs to be removed, what are my options after extraction?

Q.
I have an infected root under a post and crown. The second set of antibiotics have helped but I am
Sure the infection remains as still jaw pain and slight swelling the course finishes in 4 days time. I understand a bridge or implant is the last options after extraction? I am
Unsure which way to go? I have a crown
Next to infected tooth and could this be used to do
Bridge? Or do I compromise tooth behind? With implants can I get any help as a student? I an really confused? Don’t want to leave a gap due to
Being unsightly! Are these my only options apart from a
Denture? Thanks
A.
Yes these are your only options. A bridge normally means drilling down another healthy tooth, sometimes 2. An implant is independent from the adjacent teeth and provides a stimulus to the bone. I would advise you to have the tooth removed ASAP as the infection could reduce the chance of being able to have an implant without a bone graft first.
