How Does a Dentist Remove a Tooth?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2016
Q.

Hello. I am terrified of the dentist and haven’t been for at least 20 years when I had a nerve removed, then the dentist packed it and I should have gone back the week after but I never did as there isn’t much tooth left. I’m scared of how they can grasp it to take it out. How will the dentist do this? It’s the same both sides of my mouth and I have problems eating and I never smile due to the gaps in my teeth.

Is There An Alternative to a Brace?

Thursday, August 6th, 2015
Q.

After an accident when I was 9 years old, now at 33 years I have a composite filling on my front left tooth and a porcelain crown on my front right. Both have had nerves removed and the right is secured with a pin. They both stick out a lot and when I bite, I can get my index finger in the gap between the bottom teeth and my upper gum behind the front teeth. I hate the idea of a brace, is there an alternative? I’m happy to have them removed!

Why Am I Still in Pain After Having a Tooth Removed?

Thursday, May 21st, 2015
Q.

I had my double tooth took out as it split in half. It had a root canal filling in it. the dentist removed that as well. This was 3 weeks ago. I am in terrible pain, so went back to the dentist. They said I had an infection. and put me on antibiotics for 5 days. I am still in agony all around that gum area. I can only eat on one side. I still get a lot of pain round that area. All round there is very sensitive. What should I do?

I Have A Protruding Fang Which Bugs Me, Should I Have It Removed?

Wednesday, October 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore, as I’ve grown up, I was meant to have braces when I was younger but I didn’t because my mum neglected it, so I ended up with one protruding tooth on my top row, it looks like a fang which bugs me. After many years of feeling self-conscious about this, I would really like to see if there is a way I can get a relatively normal smile. It doesn’t have to be perfect, I just want the fang removed or something along those lines, please offer your advice and help me with this matter on what would possibly be the best course of action. Thanks.

Hi Dr, I Have Bad Toothache Which Is Throbbing, I’ve Read That My Tooth Might Be Pulled, Will I Be Able To Replace It?

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Shaffie. I have a couple of problems I need to discuss. I have had some bad toothache on the left side and it is really hurting, throbbing, I get swollen glands and the pain also effects the left side of my face and my ear also hurts and the tooth is also decayed so it might be an abscessed tooth. When I brush my teeth, it always bleeds sometimes a lot of. I also have poor dental hygiene.

I have read online that the tooth is most likely pulled out – Can I replace the tooth ? How do I get rid of the pain? I really need some help with this.

How Can I Make My Large Front Teeth Look Smaller?

Monday, August 5th, 2013
Q.

Hi
I have quite large front teeth which are fine but my gums are receding quite a lot which i revealing more and more tooth. I know ways to slow down the gum receding but am looking for permanent ways to make my front teeth look smaller. Could they perhaps be removed and replaced with false ones or perhaps a bridge would work? I don’t particularly want proper false teeth just ones that are slightly smaller.
Not sure if this is even possible but would appreciate your comments on the matter. Many thanks for your time.

I Regret Having My Original Teeth Out, What Are My Options Now?

Friday, March 1st, 2013
Q.

I am a class-III under-bite patient. I have undergone a procedure recently during which my 4 upper front teeth were removed recently and doctor gave me Zirconia bridge. This was placed onto my two canines by grinding it right down. My dentist suggested to procedure so I thought it would all work out absolutely fine. At first it seemed okay however later I realised that I have done biggest mistake in my life by removing my original teeth.I realise that I cannot get these back so have tried to gain advice.  I have consulted many other doctors who are suggesting to go for Jaw surgery for correction and then they can place two implants to support new teeth.

Kindly advise me to take the decision please.

Can I Still Get An Implant If My Gum Has Healed?

Thursday, January 31st, 2013
Q.

I had a molar removed from my top teeth approx 2yrs ago as it was infected could not be saved. I now have a gap. the tooth next to it is a crown but I have now been advised by my dentist that it is loose and will need replacing and the tooth removing as I would not be ble to have another crown. I would like an implant for the missing tooth as well as the tooth that will need removing. But my dentist has said that I would not be able to have an implant as the gum/bone has healed but I might be able to have an implant with a tooth attached so I have 2 teeth. Is this something that can be done?

I Need Dental Work But I’m Scared Of Needles. What Can I Do?

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor Andrew Moore, I have a really big fear of having a needle in my mouth. I need to have some extensive dental work and multiple teeth removed. Is sedation dentistry an option here because I don’t see the work being done without it? I only have eight teeth left of my uppers. They have began to shift and one is broken to the gumline. I would like to have them removed and replaced with dentures if possible. Can you tell me my options here? Any advice you can give I would appreciate. I look forward to reading your response, Thank you
