I am 43 and face the problem of twisting front upper teeth and over crowded lower teeth with one capped tooth

Q. Dr Glaister, I am 43 and face the problem of twisting front upper teeth and over crowded lower teeth with one capped tooth. All teeth are in reasonable shape. I am unsure of the next step in getting my teeth straightened. Is the answer orthodontics or cosmetic dentistry.

A. The most conservative route would be orthodontics as Cosmetic treatment require tooth preparation and would also has a definative life span of approx 10-15 years. The Orthodontic treatment time is longer than Cosmeticly correcting your teeth usually being 1-2 years where as Cosmetic treatment can take as little as 4 weeks.

It is totally the patients choice to choose which option is the most suitable for them.

I recoomend you go for both an orthodontic consultation and a cosmetic consultation so that you are fully informed of all the options avaiable to you.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards
