At the age of 59, is it possible to correct or improve a gummy smile without braces? What sort of cost and length of treatment would we be looking at? My teeth are OK at the front the rest are heavily filled and crowned. I already have veneers on the top two front teeth. These two teeth are the biggest problem as they sit rather low. Could veneers be made to sit higher on the gums? I do not want braces at my age! And not really keen on going injections I’ve vaguely read about. I would like something permanent.

Can a Gummy Smile be Corrected Without Braces?
Wednesday, May 18th, 2016How Much Would it Cost to Have a Full Set of Top Teeth Placed?
Tuesday, March 17th, 2015Hi. I’m 26 years old and a mum of 3. I need some help. I have 6 teeth missing on top and as it stands now, the ones that are left are all broken. My front tooth is snapped in 3 places and just hanging by the root. It moves every time I eat, talk, drink and even when I’m coughing. I hate it so much, I just want it to end. I am scared of dentists, my dentist has messed up so much. I feel so down and depressed because of it. I am always in pain and nothing helps. I am on painkillers all the time, I hate it. I can’t eat or talk properly. I don’t even like talking to people. How much would it cost to have a full set of teeth on top?
What Treatment is Available for Receded Gums?
Monday, March 16th, 2015I have receded gums and have gaps in my teeth where the gum has receded. Can you suggest any treatment for this please? I also have grey fillings, can these be replaced with white ones and how much would the cost be? And can I get this done at my own dentist or will I need to see a cosmetic dentist? I am really in need of something done as it’s so depressing because I am worried I might lose all my teeth because of this problem. I am 55 years old. Many thanks, I hope you can help.
How Can I Get Rid of Yellow Lines on my Teeth?
Friday, March 13th, 2015I had my two front teeth filled as I had a gap. Now I have two yellow lines on my front teeth you can see really clearly. I have tried evey toothpaste there is and none of them work. I don’t want to have anything else done to them. I’m a bit gutted about the fact that I went to my dentist with nice white teeth and now I hate them. When I spoke to my dentist he said there is nothing I can do. Gutted! Please tell me how to get rid of it.
I Struggle to Speak After My Treatment. What Should I Do?
Friday, March 13th, 2015Sir, I have huge gap between my six upper front teeth. I went to the dentist and he trimmed my all six teeth and placed a bride with two extra fake teeth. After the treatment I am not able to speak properly and it is very uncomfortable for me. Do I have another choice to get out of these problems? I am really tense and scared of re-treating them again. Before going to the dentist I didn’t have any problems. I just wanted to improve the aesthetics. And now I am thinking this was the biggest mistake.
I Have A Loose Front Tooth. Would A Cosmetic Dentist Be Able To Give Me A Bridge Instead Of A False Tooth?
Tuesday, April 8th, 2014Hello Dr Hughes. I have a question for you that I hope you can help me with. I have a bridge on the right front part of my mouth. The false tooth on the bridge is next to my big front tooth. Now I have a loose front tooth on the left side of my mouth next to my big left tooth. My NHS dentist said I cannot have another bridge and would have to have a false tooth instead. This is something which I really don’t want. What I want to know is: would a cosmetic dentist be able to give me a bridge instead of a false tooth? Thank you for taking the time to read this.
My Teeth Don’t Show Properly When I Smile. I Would Like To Know What Treatment Will Fix This?
Tuesday, March 4th, 2014Hello Andrew, I have a problem with my smile, being that my teeth don’t really show when I smile. It is becoming a huge issue with me now and is having a big effect on my self confidence. I can’t smile openly in public without feeling everyone is looking at me and it is having a massive effect on my confidence. Can anything be done to help me with this issue? Would appreciate any advice as to whether there is something that can be done. Thank you.
My NHS Are Gradually Wearing Thin. Would I Qualify For NHS Veneers Again If They Came Off?
Thursday, January 16th, 2014Hello Dr Mark Hughes, I knocked my front teeth out at a young age which resulted in getting lots of dental work, finishing with NHS veneers placed on four of my front teeth (my front teeth being the teeth next to the original front teeth and the fang teeth being next to the current front teeth). I think they are composite veneers as they are wearing gradually. I had them for about eight years. I’m concerned about how they might be underneath if they were to come off as I can’t remember the preparation involved and I’m not sure of my options, I been told that I can only get them private or have them stuck back on if they were to fall off or crowned (crowns scare me a bit as I already have small natural teeth) Would I qualify for NHS veneers again if they came off?
Is It Really Necessary For Me To Have My Teeth Removed?
Thursday, June 27th, 2013I’d like to improve the appearance of my 4 upper front teeth (molars) . One of the side ones has recently been crowned ; its alignment with the other teeth could be improved upon, but one of the centre molars is protruding, therefore it’s quite difficult. The remaining 3 upper front molars are covered in veneers which have to be replaced often due to discolouration of the white fillings. The dentist did suggest that I could crown the remaining 3 front molars. I am unsure whether I want my natural teeth removed despite ongoing discolouration of white fillings/veneers. What are the options ; my teeth are quite grey in colour : A3 I think was the colour of the recent crown.
My Daughter’s Teeth Are Discoloured, Could You Advise Me On Whitening Options?
Friday, May 31st, 2013Hi, My daughter is 14 years old and since her adult teeth came through they have flaws in them and lighter patches, particularly the front teeth both top and bottom. We have been told by our local dentist that this could be due to how she was developing in the womb. She is a Type 1 diabetic. As with other people who have written on this site it does affect her confidence and tries not to smile showing her teeth, as a developing young woman it’s starting to upset her much more and has been the subject of adverse comments at school. I understand that teeth whitening is not available on the NHS. The flaws seem to be in her teeth rather than staining. Are there any options at her age to make her teeth whiter. Advice much appreciated.
