Hi Mark, what steps would you expect a cosmetic dentist to take to ensure a match to whitened teeth when replacing old veneers on other surrounding teeth? I had very yellow bottom teeth lightened successfully with Enlighten. After the whitening I got new veneers on my top teeth but my new veneers are actually darker than my natural bottom teeth. I only noticed when I got home and looked in a mirror in natural light. I contacted my dentist right away but he says he is not responsible and I must pay to replace if I’m not happy. I only got the chance to check them in a poorly lit mirror in the surgery with artificial lighting and couldn’t bare my teeth properly as my mouth was so numb. I never thought they could end up darker than my natural teeth and I trusted my dentist when he said they were a good match to my natural teeth. He also gave me some more Enlighten to try and lighten the tooth under the veneer from the back of the teeth which seems unlikely to work. I would really appreciate some advise on this as my dentist is just saying I should live with it or to get them redone.

Is it illegal full stop to do teeth whitening if you are not trained in dental even if the product is safe and legal and being administered by the client and they have read and agree with and have given signed consent? I have been hearing a lot of things that a non-dentist can perform teeth whitening treatments as long as the peroxide level is 0.1% or below, active or released. And I’m starting to get a few others and the front of my upper teeth. Thursday, October 17th, 2013I’d like to know if teeth whitening can solve the problem of a tooth that has internal/inside teeth yellow discolouration which started showing after the removal of milk teeth? The yellow colour covers the whole teeth but later washed off on its own without treatment but leaving six teeth at the front with the yellow colour though not much on the teeth. The yellow colour is on four teeth at the upper region and two at the lower region. The four at the upper region is shared two to left side after the front teeth and two at right side after the second front teeth, while the two at the lower region is one to the left and another one to the right side (both incisors). I have two dark lines appearing on my two front teeth and a little line on the tooth next to front tooth. I have looked into it online and wondered if you think teeth whitening is the best option first? I know another option is veneers but I am only 20 and think whitening might be a better option. I have recently bought and had fitted a home teeth whitening kit from my dentist following fixed braces being removed.
I have started a 2 week process but I am really concerned about what I can and cannot eat, I am trying to avoid drinking tea but have been given various different recommendations by friends, etc. Can you please tell me if I should only eat white foods ie, pasta, rice, bread or if I can eat most foods but avoid tea/coffee/curry – can I eat meat or should I just stick to fish or chicken?
A detailed list of what to avoid would be really useful. I am drinking hot water in place of tea and am experiencing a tiny bit of sensitivity, I have only started 1 application of 6% strength so far. Kind regards.
