Hello Dr Gambroudes, I have a question for you which I hope you can help me with. Is it illegal full stop to do teeth whitening if you are not trained in dental even if the product is safe and legal and being administered by the client and they have read and agree with and have given signed consent? I have been hearing a lot of things that a non-dentist can perform teeth whitening treatments as long as the peroxide level is 0.1% or below, active or released. Your advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much.

Hello and thank you for getting in touch. The simple answer to you question is that tooth whitening can only be carried out by a dentist or dental professional registered with the General Dental Council. Anybody other than these individuals practicing tooth whitening is doing so illegally.
