How do I choose the right dentist for discoloured teeth?

Hi, I am 21 years old and have severely discoloured teeth from taking strong medications over the last 10 years. I had previously considered tooth whitening but because I have numerous fillings in the front of my teeth this wouldn’t work. I am therefore considering veneers, particularly lumineers as I have very sensitive teeth. Do lumineers have a shorter life than porcelain veneers? How do you work around veneers if at a later date fillings need to be carried out? Obviously there are so many cosmetic denists around, how do I go about chosing the right dentist for the job?
