Can naturally discoloured teeth be whitened?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Q.
Hi, My teeth are naturally quite discoloured. I remember when my adult incisors came, it only took about three months for them to emerge and they were exactly the same off-white as the other teeth. if my teeth are naturally yellower, can they be whitened? what is the most effective method? i am only returning to the UK briefly this christmas – is it safe to have this procedure done without consulting my regular dentist? many thanks.,

What treatment can I have for stained teeth?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr. Glaister, I wonder if you can advise me on the most effective treatment for my teeth. All of my front teeth are totally stained brown on the inward facing side of the teeth. I presume this is caused by smoking (which i have now given up)in the main and by the fact that my teeth have never been cleaned by a dentist. It would be great if you could advise me. Thankyou,

What can be done for discoloured and crooked teeth?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
Hi just wanted to ask you a quick question I have always been upset about my teeth from a very young age. My teeth look yellow even though I have tried many products i.e pearl drops and many many more teeth whitening tooth paste. None of them seem to work and it is really frustrating. My front two teeth really need to be pushed back a little. I am forever getting picked on and laughed at by family members and friends. Sometimes when I am going to laugh I cover my mouth thats how awful I feel about them. Please help,

Should I get whitening or lumineers?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
Hi Rob, I have just read one of your replies re: cost and if lumineers are a better choice or not. My question would be for your recommendation for stained/discoloured teeth (by tetracycline). Mine have been whitened twice already (Zoom) and of course they are a lot better but they are far from being white. Most of the people say there is nothing wrong with them but i still don’t like the photos of me smiling as they are way too yellow/greyish (especially comparing someone smiling next to me). They are slightly crooked as well but not too bad. What would be your recommendation? Invisalign and more whitening (what i’m concerned about doing too many times) or lumineers? I really liked the idea of lumineers first but since I have read a lot of bad as well. The price is also quite high for me. I’d also like to keep my original teeth as long as i can as apart from the colour there hasn’t been anything wrong with them. Please advise. Thanks a lot in advance.,

Thursday, January 14th, 2010
Q.
I have just had my 2 front teeth removed today as they had overlapped for years and also I had fell on the hearth when my front teeth were just coming in. I decided to have cosmetic surgery, I had this today. They have fitted temporary teeth until my empress crowns are ready in 2 weeks, Since coming home I have noticed that they are very yellow compared to my teeth and has made me feel quite depressed, is there anything I can do to whiten them??,

What teeth whitening system should I have?

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
Q.
Good evening Dr Patel, I would like to have my teeth whitened. Unfortunately I have already 2 crowns – right at the front – the big 2 teeth which means I will need to have the teeth whitened and then also will need to swap for new, colour- matching crowns. Now, one of my friends has had hers done by our dentists; they would create the trays (cost effective for future re-use) and I will wear those at home for 2 – 3 weeks or so. She had hers done there too but to me the teeth look little white-blu-ish colour, not as bright and shiny as my other’s friend’s who has had a laser whitening. Not sure if it’s their teeth or if the colour outcome can be different from trays/laser systems? so I am not sure where to have it done, whether to go for the laser or the home bleeching with the trays from my dentist; there is also such a choice of systems and companies on website so it’s hard to find what’s best; just want healthy looking, bright and shiny teeth 🙂 thanks a lot for your answer, very appreciated, Tracy,
