Can you advise how to realign my top set of teeth?

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011
Q.

I have one tooth pushed back from my top set of teeth, it’s right next to the left centre tooth. I’ve never been bothered by my other teeth which are also slightly wonky, especially my bottom teeth, but this tooth affects me so much I can only smile on the other side. I know I’ll end up paying for the treatment on it, so what’s the best option?

Could my braces have changed the shape of my face?

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011
Q.

I am 29yr old male. I have had braces for 1 yr now on lower teeth with 1 extraction-second molar on my left. This was to correct and straighten my teeth. I am noticing a thinning of my face – making it look narrow. Everyone keeps saying ‘you have lost weight’ but I have not. My ortho says it cannot be braces, as only jaw surgery can change my jawline. I am very worried. Is he right? What can I do? He is moving my back teeth to cover the gap from the extraction. Thank you.

My daughter’s orthodontist has been rude about her losing brackets, are we able to transfer to another?

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011
Q.

i am looking for some advice please.
my 13 year old daugter is registered with a orthodontist in our local area. she is now towards the end of her second year of treatment she has worn a retainer brace for a year and now as a track brace on both sets of teeth. its a year in july she has worn that one. her orthodontist is a very differcult man who i find to be very rude at times. i often wonder if its because we are nhs patients. my daughter is very careful whats she eats and only eats pasta at school as it is soft. no crusty bread, pizzas, toffees, sweets or gum as suggested. but in the last year she has lost 4 brackets from her teeth her orthodontist makes me feel like i am lying and treats us with such distaste at times and has almost had me in tears at the reception. my daughter is now saying she wont eat till its off. they says its nearly impossible for the cement to come off and if she has one more bracket come off he is going to take her brace off and discharge her. obviously this is a great worry to us as we know her teeth will return to original position and she started with a 12mm overbite 2 years ago. can he do this over something as petty as a couple of brackets coming loose. i know it must be very annoying for him at times but it seems a bit severe for what takes him 20 seconds to replace. my nephew goes to another dentist and in 6 months as lost 4 brackets and his dentist just replaced them no problem.
i would love to get her refered to another orthodontist but am told to do this she will have to start her treatment all over again. any advice you could give me i would be gratful.
much thanks

My fang teeth overlap, what can I do about this?

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011
Q.

The ttooth either side of my two front teeth (Fang teeth ) have always slightly overlapped my front teeth and as a youngster I should have had a brace. I am now 45 and these fangs are now gradually twisting and lifting. My dentist says if it were removed, That the gap left would mean an implant that would be smaller than my actual teeth so would not be recommended. Any ideas

My daughters braces pushed back her teeth, can this be rectified?

Friday, February 25th, 2011
Q.

My daughter has had braces on in the Dominican Republic for just about 3 years and now she has had the top set taken off I visited a different dentist for fitting of a retainer. It has come to light that her teeth have been ‘pushed back’ as the braces were not correctly applied. Please can you advise if the teeth will naturally ‘move forward’ or if there is treatment to correct this. The new dentist wants to reapply the bottom brace to close some gaps but says she can’t correct the ‘push back’. I am also locating a lawyer for the malpractice of the initial dentist. Your advise is much appreciated.

What options do I have to improve my smile?

Thursday, February 24th, 2011
Q.

Hi Sunita.
When i was younger i used to suck 2 fingers, this caused problems to my teeth leading to me then having to wear a brace, though now im 27 and my teeth are still a major problem, i have no confidence what so ever, and it really does make me feel depressed about it.
I heard about removable veneers and i am very interested in finding out more about this. Or any other treatment .
Thankyou
