My daughters braces pushed back her teeth, can this be rectified?

Q.
My daughter has had braces on in the Dominican Republic for just about 3 years and now she has had the top set taken off I visited a different dentist for fitting of a retainer. It has come to light that her teeth have been ‘pushed back’ as the braces were not correctly applied. Please can you advise if the teeth will naturally ‘move forward’ or if there is treatment to correct this. The new dentist wants to reapply the bottom brace to close some gaps but says she can’t correct the ‘push back’. I am also locating a lawyer for the malpractice of the initial dentist. Your advise is much appreciated.

Your best move at this stage is to get the opinion of a specialist orthodontist as they would give you an expert opinion and be able to give you all your options. If the upper teeth are left to naturally move they may move into a worse arrangement and retention is vital for long term orthodontic success and stability. Look on the General Dental Council, Specialist’s register for an Orthodontist near you. They have the lists on their website. http://www.gdc-uk.org/
