Q.
My post crown fell out last week and when I went to the dentist he said that I had fractured my root and the only option was to remove the root and have a partial denture fitted – is this correct advice?

Can i get a nice set of dentures on the NHS

Monday, August 18th, 2008
Q.
Hi,I am a 49 yr old female. I have always had yellow teeth as long as I can remember, I have one single denture and quite severe gum recession hence a lot of lose teeth. It would be my dream to be put to sleep and wake up with a fantastic set of dentures. I hate my teeth and my smile but cost is an issue. Should anything be available to me on the NHS? Thank you.

will valplast dentures fracture

Monday, August 18th, 2008
Q.
I went to a private dentist because they used Valplast for partial dentures. I have now been told Valplast would be likely to fracture because of my bite. Is this correct? I thought Valplast was much stronger than ordinary acrilic.

Thursday, August 14th, 2008
Q.
Should I grit my teeth really tight or just close my mouth for the best fit for a partial? Also would you advise adding to a partial or go for dentures. I have 9 teeth remaining on top mostly on the back sides? Thank you

I gag on dentures all the time and dental phobia

Thursday, July 31st, 2008
Q.
Hi. I have undergoing lots of dental work over the past 8 weeks due to a dental phobia I’ve had for 15 years. I had lots of extractions and now wear partial dentures on both top and bottom. The bottom one is okay but the top is awful. I have 3 front teeth on the top denture and they stick out from my other teeth, are gappy and the worst thing is I gag all the time the denture is in. The pain they both are causing me is unreal and jaw constantly aches. I’m not eating and a virtual recluse. My dentist said come back in 3 MONTHS to see what and if they can do anything. I’m desperate can anyone help I’m only 35 and feel like my life is over.

Am I too old for cosmetic dentistry i dont want to wear dentures

Thursday, July 24th, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr. Caplan, I am in my late 70’s and still have my own teeth with the exception of some back ones. I also have some crowns. I want to avoid having to wear dentures as my teeth gradually deteriorate and wonder if I should have some cosmetic treatment now so I will never need dentures. What is your opinion on this please? Thank you.
