I want a cosmetic denture like in 10 years younger

Sunday, July 13th, 2008
Q.
Over the last 10 months or so, I have lost all but 3 of my bottom teeth. (Im 39). The denture I have been supplied with not only looks awful, as the teeth are smaller and shorter than my own, but is very uncomfortable, loose and ill fitting. I asked my dentist about a cosmetic denture, meaning the type you see on tv shows such as 10 yrs younger. He quoted a cost of approx £300, which I find hard to believe. Is he thinking of the same thing as me, or would I need to see a specialist to get what I am looking for? Also what sort of cost would I be looking at realistically?

My teeth are falling out I smoke and I am seeing a periodontist

Sunday, July 13th, 2008
Q.
I have had periodontal disease for several years now and despite seeing a periodontist for treatment, nothing has really improved. I have lost several teeth and know I will lose more as several are now very loose. I have been looking for info and options on the net and REALLY DO NOT WANT DENTURES! I’m thinking of implants but realise the bone density is an issue but also learnt about bone grafts. If my teeth are removed and I need grafts how long would it be between treatments and before I could possibly have the implants. I’m sorry I smoke – would this prevent this treatment? What treatment could you recommend? I can’t eat properly and certainly don’t smile and I’m finding this situation very depressing. Many thanks for your reply.

My front tooth is loose due to gum disease should I have a Maryland bridge or denture

Thursday, July 10th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I have a front loose tooth due which I am about to lose due to Gum disease. I have been offered the option of replacing the tooth with a denture (dont want this) or a Maryland bridge. Only problem with the bridge is that I have read that the metal can show through the teeth & that a gap may be visible due to gum shrinkage. In the long term I would like an implant to replace this loose tooth but have been told that the gum diseases in that area has to clear before an implant is possible. Would you advise me to go with a temporary denture or the maryland bridge, how long would you recommend i wait before going for an implant?. Thanks

My mothers soft dental plate is uncomfortable

Thursday, July 10th, 2008
Q.
My 85 yr old mother is unable to wear her “soft” dental plate due to extreme discomfort. Are there any better plates if she paid privately? PS She has been quoted £15,000 for req number of implants and can not afford this.Is it true that it is not possible to just do,say,4 front teeth to make feel able to still face the world?

Firstly i have a fear of Dentists and have not been to see A dentist for about ten years. I was wondering if its possible to have all my teeth taken out and have dentures fitted as i now have broken and missing teeth. Also could you tell me how much this would cost as im on a low income.
