Are Veneers Good At Hiding White Spots?

Tuesday, July 16th, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Moore! I just got aceppted to NYU and I want to have a great smile for college. My two top front teeth aren’t very straight, however the rest of my teeth are. (But all if my teeth have white spots) … I know braces would take a long time to straighten my front teeth. Are veeners a good route to go with on my two front teeth and then luminers to fix the discoloration on the rest? I really want to have a great smile before I go to college. I have always taken care of my teeth (brushing, flossing, etc). However, due to my younger brother being diagnosed with cancer my single mother never had the extra money to afford braces and such. So I want to try and get them fixed now, well before I go to college anyway. I’m hoping you can provide me with some advice? Thanks!

Is It Really Necessary For Me To Have My Teeth Removed?

Thursday, June 27th, 2013
Q.

I’d like to improve the appearance of my 4 upper front teeth (molars) . One of the side ones has recently been crowned ; its alignment with the other teeth could be improved upon, but one of the centre molars is protruding, therefore it’s quite difficult. The remaining 3 upper front molars are covered in veneers which have to be replaced often due to discolouration of the white fillings. The dentist did suggest that I could crown the remaining 3 front molars. I am unsure whether I want my natural teeth removed despite ongoing discolouration of white fillings/veneers. What are the options ; my teeth are quite grey in colour : A3 I think was the colour of the recent crown.

I Need My Front Teeth To Look Identical When I Receive Dental Veneers, How Can I Ensure That This Happens?

Wednesday, June 26th, 2013
Q.

Hi, I knocked my front tooth last year causing gradual discolouration. My dentist in the US has suggested bleaching from inside the tooth as well as outside as a first course of action. If this fails, then a veneer will be necessary, however it has been suggested that I have the tooth next to it done as well as they are difficult to match up. I need an expert dentist to be able to match up a front tooth. I do not want a thick, chicklet type veneer, rather something more natural. I’ve seen a lot of bad veneer jobs in my time with many of them looking extremely fake! What would you recommend?

Regards.

What Toothpaste Should I Use For Taking Care Of My New Veneers?

Tuesday, June 18th, 2013
Q.

Hi,

I have just had porcelain veneers fitted and wanted to know what is the best toothpaste to use that won’t scratch or dull the surface?

I have only just recently had them fitted, about a week ago. I would like to keep them for as long as possible because they did cost me a lot of money. Unfortunately, I forgot to discuss with my dentist which toothpaste would be good for keeping them clean. I know a lot of toothpastes on today’s market are quite abrasive to actual teeth, never mind on veneers. Are there any toothpastes available that are especially designed to work on veneers for example? I don’t mind how much the toothpaste costs, it would be ideal if there was one available that would help my veneers last longer, maybe have a protective coating for example? Any suggestions would be great. Thank you for any advice in advance, kind regards.

My Receding Gums And Old Veneers Have Exposed My Teeth, Can I Get A Filler Put In?

Friday, June 7th, 2013
Q.

I have veneers on my front teeth for about 15 years. My gums are receding and now you can see my natural teeth from my veneer to my gums. My dentist already checked my gums. It is from brushing to hard. My question is, can i get filler put in on the top of my veneers to the gums so you can’t see my natural teeth. I really don’t want to replace my veneers at this time. I just want the space gone when a smile real big, your can see my natural teeth where my gums are receding. The gums are only receding on the two front teeth where the veneers are. I go to my dentist regularly and she was the one who has done my veneers.

Would I be able to get veneers on the NHS?

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello,

I have had caps on one of my teeth (top front teeth) on 2 occasions as my the bottom of my tooth was chipped quite badly playing football when younger, but they keep falling off. My teeth are also very sensitive, I have used toothpaste for this for atleast the last year but it hasn’t helped.

I have spoken to some people about this when teeth is the topic of conversation and on a few occasions veneers have been mentioned. I’m not in a position where I have the funds to pay for private veneers after a quick search on Google, but have seen that veneers through the NHS are rather inexpensive.

Given my brief description of my situation, would veneers at NHS prices ever be granted? I am willing to try other solutions also. I have an appointment next week with my dentist, but just thought I would ask here first to see if it would even be worth mentioning.

Thanks for your time.

How Much Would It Cost To Get Porcelain Veneers?

Thursday, May 9th, 2013
Q.

Hi,
I have partial upper and lower plates and have had since I was 14. Now 58 I am seriously thinking about having porcelain veneers.I have two double back teeth and 3 smaller teeth on the bottom and 2 small one on the top. Can you please tell me how much the whole treatment from start to finish would cost. Obviously I know this wouldn’t be exact as I would need an appointment but a ball park figure would be good. Thank you..

Can My Veneers Be Replaced Under Sedation?

Monday, April 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hello Dr Bohara,

Approximately 15 years ago my front tooth (top) cracked and I was given veneers on my two front teeth. I believe these have now run their course and require replacing as they feel like they are coming away from my teeth and they no longer meet my gums.

I believe that the cracked tooth is dying and that I need a root canal treatment to fix it, and that both veneers would need to be replaced. In addition to all of these things, my teeth are quite badly discoloured and I am frightened to take any steps to whiten them in case I damage the veneers further or end up with some white teeth and some discoloured teeth.

To make matters worse I am absolutely terrified of the dentist or having any work done on my teeth so I have been putting this off for some time now (I needed to be sedated to remove one wisdom tooth). However I am frightened my front tooth will fall out and then I’ll have no choice but to do something.

Please could you tell me what options are available to me in terms of treatment, sedation (conscious or not) and likely cost?

Many thanks.
