Would I be able to get veneers on the NHS?

Q.
Hello,

I have had caps on one of my teeth (top front teeth) on 2 occasions as my the bottom of my tooth was chipped quite badly playing football when younger, but they keep falling off. My teeth are also very sensitive, I have used toothpaste for this for atleast the last year but it hasn’t helped.

I have spoken to some people about this when teeth is the topic of conversation and on a few occasions veneers have been mentioned. I’m not in a position where I have the funds to pay for private veneers after a quick search on Google, but have seen that veneers through the NHS are rather inexpensive.

Given my brief description of my situation, would veneers at NHS prices ever be granted? I am willing to try other solutions also. I have an appointment next week with my dentist, but just thought I would ask here first to see if it would even be worth mentioning.

Thanks for your time.

Its worth asking your dentist to see if you’re suitable for veneers and what the associated costs are. The problem is generally that veneers are a cosmetic treatment and as a result have to look really good when fitted. Technical work like that doesn’t come cheap hence the reluctance for dentist to provide them on the NHS
