Should I have my dental crown replaced?

Q. Hi, I hope you can give me some advice. I had a crown fitted (with a root canal) about 2 1/2 years ago. When I first had it done I had to go back several times to have it put back in as it just wasnt secure, she them put a post in it but it has come loose again!. I have just been back to another dentist who put it in again for me but said it probably wouldnt stay because my gums are inflamed around that area and its not going in properly. I am just getting sick of going back and back again. Should I have another crown done? What do you think would be the solution? Hope you can help. Regards.

A. the likely hood is that there is not enough tooth left to keep the crown in place – you may need it removed and a bridge, implant or denture made to replace the missing tooth
