I have gaps on each side of my front teeth

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Q.
I am 17 years old and am contacting you for some advice. Ever since my baby teeth fell out and made way for my adult teeth i wos left with two gaps at the side of each of my front 2 teeth. I am exremely self conscious about them and they are really starting to lower my slef-esteem and make lose my confidence. I was wondering if there is any way to close these gaps and if in any way it is possible to have the procedure done on the nhs, as I or my family dont really have the funds to do it privately. I understand that my procedure is somehow seen as cosmetic and that may be a reason as to why I cant have it funded on the nhs. But to me a persons health is an holistic state and cannot just be seen as a physical thing. The appearence of my teeth are really beginning to affect me emotionally, and to me that is part of a persons health. I hope you can help me, or guide me in the right direction. Thankyou.

i hate my smile

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Q.
Hi Mr. Caplan, I’m 19/20. I absolutely HATE my smile, I have crowded crooked teeth and NEED to get them fixed. I’m terrified of braces and honestly don’t know if I would have the patience to stick with them for 2/3 years! I visited a cosmetic dentist before and he said that I would need 6 veneers on top and 5 on the bottom. However, only 6 of the teeth in my whole mouth are misaligned. I am fine with the colour of my teeth (although they could be a bit whiter!) and the size of them but I can’t live with the crookedness of them anymore!!! Obviously with my age the main issue of dentistry is the money, are there any payment plans that you are aware of? does your surgery support this method of payment? do you have any suggestions or recomendations for me? Thanks so so much

implant dentist in cambridge

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr. Tennet, I am currently having my teeth straightened using Invisalign and will be doing so for the next 8 months. My teeth have become crooked over the years (I am in my late 20’s) as a result of a baby tooth that has been stubborn and remained in my mouth. As such, I am straightening the teeth and then want to remove the cause of the crookedness (i.e. the baby tooth). I’m therefore thinking of removing the guilty tooth and inserting an implant into the jaw. The tooth in question is my upper Canine (I think it corresponds to number 6 on the dental charts). I have read quite a bit of literature but am hoping you can answer some of my questions if possible. 1.) I’ve been told that I will need to wear the final aligner in the Invisalign set for a good 3-6 months to ensure the teeth have time to settle in their final position. Assuming the baby tooth survives the forces from the Invisalign treatment, can I use these 3-6 months to remove the baby tooth and immediately fit the implant into the created hole (I read the treatment would need 3-6 months for the titanium implant to bond with my bone)? If this is so, can I then have the canine position on the inside of the aligner coated white, to look like a ‘fake’ tooth? My reason for this query is that the canine position will be very visible and I was hoping I could use the aligner to help mask the gap in my teeth! 2.) Having looked at implants, I would like an experts opinion on the use of modern all-ceramic crowns for implants. I like the look of the CEREC based crowns using Mark II blocks. However, I don’t know how much of my interest is just down to Vita’s good marketing and whether there are better alternatives on the market! If there is, I would very much appreciate your advice on the subject! What are your opinions of PFMs? 3.) Do you happen to know how much the process would cost with an all-ceramic crown in the UK? 4.) Could you recommend a decent dentist in the Cambridgeshire area that do ceramic crowns + implants? 5.) How common is it for UK-based dentists to stain the CEREC restorations and is this part of the normal procedure or does it cost extra? Thanks so much for the advice!

Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Q.
Hi! I have been thinking of getting my front 2 teeth filed down so they are more in line with the others. I cant really find much informaiton as to what it entails etc, how painfull it is and if there are any pitfalls as such by having it done. Is this something your practice can do?

Should i replace my amalgam fillings or have teeth extracted

Thursday, September 11th, 2008
Q.
Hello, I found I have alergy to some metal in my mouth, so I have to remove all my mercury fillings. Having some symptoms of mercury/metal poisening, I would like to know if it is better to remove the teeth and get inplant or just restore them with white fillings one by one? I found on xray that some of the front teeth are leaking, the metal is in the roots. Is it still the point to have them with white fillings or is not better to remove it? Thank you. katerina
