Am I too old for cosmetic dentistry i dont want to wear dentures

Thursday, July 24th, 2008
Q.
Dear Dr. Caplan, I am in my late 70’s and still have my own teeth with the exception of some back ones. I also have some crowns. I want to avoid having to wear dentures as my teeth gradually deteriorate and wonder if I should have some cosmetic treatment now so I will never need dentures. What is your opinion on this please? Thank you.

is there a problem with teeth whitening at 20 to remove stains

Friday, July 18th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I am 20 years old and am considering getting my teeth whitened. Is there any problem with my age? I have been reading that it is generally older people that get it done to remove stains etc, but then you see celebrities getting it done that are my age! Is there any problem in getting it done or any concerns, as i would much rather go through my life with white teeth than getting it done later on!! Thanks

My NHS dental crowns are too white what can I do

Monday, July 14th, 2008
Q.
I go to a local dentist where I have been going for a long time and my dentist no longer treats adults, just children\’s braces. i therefore changed to a dentist at that practice, but did not know him. I have had 3 new crowns at the front and a veneer (privately) plus teeth whitening. I was told that the two teeth (old NHS crowns) either side of the front two had metal posts and they may show through the porcelain, but it shouldn’t be a problem. This treatment was carried out about march time at a cost of £1200 plus teeth whitening. The crown were a bit too white for my own colour and I was asked to repeat the teeth whitening for another week. They still do not match, the two crowns on the metal posts are a grey colour and I do not feel entirely happy with them. Where do I stand regarding this or having a second opinion. The dentist who carried out the work is very nice, so I feel at a loss as to what to do next.

How much does teeth whitening cost I am a smoker

Monday, July 14th, 2008
Q.
Hi just a few questions about some procedures im thinking of having done. firstly i was wondering how much teeth whitening is? also i was going to have my teeth whitened before but as i am a smoker and i was told not to smoke for seven days after i was put off the idea and i was wondering if the same applys with your procedure? secondly, i have a porceline coating on my two front teeth to cover up some blemishes, if i get my teeth whitened that would need replacing i think as usually these coatings can not be whitened. andi was wondering how much that would cost. and thirdly how white should i expect my teeth to go. i would be very greatful if you could get back to me on this matter

I have gum disease through thumb sucking can I gave cosmetic dentistry

Monday, July 14th, 2008
Q.
Hi, I’m 23 years old. I sucked my thumb until I was 13. My top teeth were pushed out and my bottom ones were pushed in. My bottom right 1 tooth has even turned 90 degrees so it\’s perpendicular to the others! Because of this, the dentist told me I have pockets in my gums they harbour more bacteria than normal people. 3 years ago, I started suffering from gum disease. I\ve since had 4 gum infections, 2 abscesses, 3 teeth extracted and I now have another broken tooth. My gums are wearing away too. Most of my problems are due to the fact I didn’t see a dentist from the ages of 16 and 20. I\ve started going regularly again but I’m distressed at all the work that needs doing. Is there anything that can be done for me with cosmetic dentistry? I think I need braces to start with to straighten my teeth, but then I worry that they’re beyond repair because I have missing teeth. Please help me as it has had massive effects on my confidence and self esteem as I can\’t smile or even talk properly as I’m so scared of anyone seeing my teeth.

My teeth are crowded and different heights would contouring work

Sunday, July 13th, 2008
Q.
My bottom 4 front teeth are slightly over crowded, which makes them slightly different heights, i was wondering if cosmetic contouring could file down the tops of them to make them look straight? would this work and how much would it cost to do?
