I had my teeth whitened eighteen months ago, but now they might need brightening again. Will home trays work on my veneers and crowns?

Monday, August 9th, 2010
Q.
Hello Doctor, I had my teeth whitened about 18months ago and had 2 veneers and 2 crowns put in to match the colour. I feel that they may need brightened up again but i’m afraid to do it in case they then don’t match the veneers and crowns, which I have heard will not go whiter with the whitening trays. Is this true and what can I do please?,

A diet coke habit eroded my teeth, and I’ve had them filled. Will they get worse or will the problems stop soon?

Monday, August 9th, 2010
Q.
I have some erosion/abrasion notches on each 4th tooth back from the front (upper and lower) and some transparency on my front teeth at the bottom. I think this is from a diet coke habit which I stopped last year. Will this get progressively worse over time although I am now very careful what I eat or drink or will this now stop? Also my dentist has filled the notches with bonding but each time they fall out but she doesn’t seem concerned. Will they get worse though as there is nothing protecting them when I brush and eat? I am very worried as I don’t want my teeth to wear away any further and end up with brown horrible teeth and having to have false one’s!,

My daughter is due to have her braces removed but teeth problems are still apparent, what should we do?

Friday, August 6th, 2010
Q.
My daughter is 16 years old and is about to have her braces removed after 2 years treatment on the NHS. Further work is required for her as she has a missing tooth on one side of her front teeth and a ‘peg’ tooth on the other side. To complicate matters one of her front teeth was damaged in an accident and has cosmetic bonding applied. Ths nneds to be adjusted (or redone) as it is longer in length than the other front tooth. Can you advise how to progress with this work and its likely cost. She is OK with visits to the dentist but orthodontic visits are traumatic.,

I have dental phobia but my teeth are falling out, please help!

Friday, August 6th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I’m unsure how to begin, but my teeth are not in good condition. Over the past years I’ve been suffering from depression due to bullying and stress, often because of my looks, down more to my teeth. In my youth I hated them, and did not care for them, and as such they have degraded, and now, simply, they are falling out. I have lost five so far, and recently one of my two front teeth broke and fell out. I’m 22, and am unsure what to do. I am not registered with an NHS dentist, and in all honesty due to visits as a teen I am terrified of dentists and having things put into my mouth. I know that if I do not do something soon, things are only going to get worse than they already are. I am reluctantly seeking out a local NHS dentist for an examination, already knowing that they will probably have a field day with me, but I’m wondering if you have any advice for me otherwise. I am at a loss, and any hep would be greatly appreciated.,

I have lost all of my confidence because of my bad teeth, can you give me some advice?

Friday, August 6th, 2010
Q.
Hello, I wonder if you can help me. i am in need of some possible cosmetice dental work on my teeth I have missing teeth which makes it difficult for me to chew my food on both sides of my mouth and also some gaps from an earlier procedure when i had two gold crowns fitted. As a result I am no longer confident to smile in front of people or have my picture taken even face to face conversations make me feel uncomfortable I tend to avoid talking directly to people for fear that they will see the mess that my teeth have become it also affects me socially now in that I find myself withdrawing myself from my friends and family I make excuses why i cant attend most functions. I dont have a great deal of money in terms of paying for any surgery that i may require and that is why i have had to suffer this for so long now, I have scoured the internet looking for the best prices and also respected dental surgeons like yourself but it is too expensive for me and I dont know where or who to turn to for help or advice. My situation is now at the point where I try not to engage with people socially anymore I would like to get my teeth sorted out and in turn make my life better than the way it is now Thank you,
