My daughter is due to have her braces removed but teeth problems are still apparent, what should we do?

Q. My daughter is 16 years old and is about to have her braces removed after 2 years treatment on the NHS. Further work is required for her as she has a missing tooth on one side of her front teeth and a ‘peg’ tooth on the other side. To complicate matters one of her front teeth was damaged in an accident and has cosmetic bonding applied. Ths nneds to be adjusted (or redone) as it is longer in length than the other front tooth. Can you advise how to progress with this work and its likely cost. She is OK with visits to the dentist but orthodontic visits are traumatic.,
A. I am sure your daughter is happy that her braces are due to come off. I sympathise that this can be a traumatic time. As for the issue of having peg lateral teeth and composite bonding, I would recommend that you see a good cosmetic dentist to disuss all of your options. as your daughter is only young, then perhaps veneers at this stage wouldnt be a good idea. composite bonding is a good treatment option as long as you are aware that this will need replacing once in a while for aestehtics as it can often pick up staining and even chip away quite easily. hope this has helped
