Can bleaching or whitening remove brown stains on teeth?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
Q.
Hello Dr. Caplain. My Six upper front teeth have brown stains on the upper part of the teeth from loss of enamel. Is it possible for teeth whitening/bleech to get rid of it. Or how much would the cost be to get those 6 teeth crowned.,

Hi Dr Julian, i am thinking of starting a course for a teeth technician. Could you advise me on how I go about this? I live in Glasgow and have no qualifications of any kind. This isnt because I am stupid but because I came from Chechnya and all the records were lost in the war. Could you help me if you can.,

Dentist has recommended trimming veneers but is this right?

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
Q.
Last week my 22 year old daughter completed her veneer fitting of her upper teeth hoping to give her a perfect smile and improve her confidence, she was not given a chance to give her approval before cementing. The veneers appear as too wide for her mouth and much larger than the original teeth, reminding us of someone with buck teeth after bracing. We have spoken to our dentist and the technician they are going to ‘trim’ the veneers and give us two weeks to get used to them if not satisfied they will remove and start again, your advise will be much appreciated.,

Is there a way to cover unsightly black line?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I have a front incisor crown but over the years my gum has receded and exposed an ugly black line. Can you recommend the best way of dealing with this? Is there any way of ‘filling in’ or covering the unsightly black line or would I need to have the whole crown replaced? Many thanks Lucy,

Why is veneer already stained only a week after getting it?

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010
Q.
I had a composite veneer on a front tooth a few weeks ago which has a slight small brown stain appearing on the bottom already. I have cut out tea, coffee and red wine but have used Corsodyl mouthwash for gum problems which I understand can stain the teeth. I use Sensodine toothpaste for my teeth but believe this is not suitable for my composite bonded tooth. Should I be using two different toothpastes?,

What can be done for tooth that keeps coming loose?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Q.
Hi there,i have had to have my front tooth filled twice in the space of a couple of months as it kept going slack then fell out,i got quite a shock when it fell out at the amount of tooth that had been taken away..i changed my dentist as i wasnt happy with this happening all the time and when he refilled it he had to do more drilling due to some decay and said if it falls out again i would need to get a crown! I am worried about this and definately dont want to loose my front tooth, i would also like to know some reasons as to why it keeps coming loose so i can prevent this from happening? thanyou very much.,

I am scared of dentist but need dentures – can you advise?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010
Q.
I have recently been in touch with the Gentle Dental Office in Germany and had an initial consultation. I have been advised to have all of my top teeth removed and replaced with dentures and the majority of the bottom removed, leaving some to “anchor” the bottom dentures. I have been told that the “vertical” needs to be significantly increased as there is not enough space. Please could you explain what this means and how this can be achieved. Will I have to pay for this privately or can it be done on the NHS. I have not visited a dentist in 29 years because I suffer from dental phobia. I now want to contact a dentist in the Midlands area for a second opinion, but haven’t quite plucked up the courage. I need to get my problems sorted now and it is making my lie a misery. Please can you help? Thank you,
