Can A Tooth That Has Been Badly Damaged Ever Recover?
Monday, January 7th, 2013Have I Made A Mistake Shaving So Much Of My Tooth Off?
Monday, January 7th, 2013Hello,
I went in this morning to get molds done for veneers (10) for smile enhancement; brighter smile and a front chipped tooth about 1 month ago (composite placed to reshape 2 front teeth back in 2004) . So, I chose to do this because I also used to drink a lot if acidic drinks and I thought getting veneers would help preserve my original teeth. The Dr. ended up shaving a lot more tooth than I expected and I feel awful and think I’ve made a bad decision. The Dr. said I had abscessed teeth, but when I looked up what that meant, I never had any pus-filled pockets or any other signs of the definition. He says everything will be fine, that they use e-max with a 7 year warranty and my teeth will look great once they are placed on. Do you any advice? I regret letting him shave off so much tooth, but it was too late after I realized how much was being removed. Any re-assurance would be great, but I’ll take any advice you can provide me. Thanks.

How Can I Recover The Appearance Of My Teeth After Suffering Gum Disease?
Monday, January 7th, 2013 Hi Dr Hughes
I have been told by my dentist i have gum disease and have had root planing treatment. I am 43 and before being told i had this disease i considered myself to have nice teeth no crowns caps , 2 filling etc and considered i had a good brushing routine, with regular visits to the dentist,
I am horrified that it has been missed by my dentist. I have bone loss and my gums have receded leaving gaps between my teeth. my front teeth have shifted and i am going to have a brace fitted to correct this. my lower 4 front teeth look horrendous due to recession would a gum graft correct this?. i cry most days because i no longer have a smile and also now suffer anxiety attacks .I need to have this corrected as i know i will never be happy until i do , I loved my smile.
I work in the beauty industry so you can imagine appearance is important . i do not think my dentist listens when i ask about the gaps and although i know now my gums are in good health as the probings are all 2s It is the appearance that makes me cry. please advise me on gum grafting and possible cost i am at my wits end.
many thanks for your time in reading this email.
Is My Toothpaste Causing My Gums To Become Loose And Fall Apart?
Monday, January 7th, 2013Hello I bought a new brand of toothpaste and ever since using it, after brushing my teeth i find that there is a thin layer of loose gum inside my mouth that comes off in chunks. I don’t know if the toothpaste has caused this problem or not but it is the only difference that has occurred in my dental routine. I find this irritating embarrassing and inconvenient as when I am at work I have to keep spitting out the loose fragments that I am finding during the day and sometimes it sticks to the corners of my mouth.
I just wandered if you had any ideas as to what this could be and what is causing it?
Kind regards
Is my root canal treatment a success or is there going to be an infection?
Friday, January 4th, 2013 Hi, I had a deep filling done on my lower right second molar. It caused problems so my dentist advised a root canal. She couldnt get all the way to the tips of the roots and said she couldnt promise it wouldnt get infected. She said wait 3 months to see if it settles and then if it does i can have a crown.
This was done about 4 weeks ago and i still get pain but it has got better. I avoid eating on it and i do give it the odd test now and again and it doesnt hurt to eat on it. I suppose my question is I’m only in need of taking pain killers say everyother day and only at the end of the day. is this good at this stage? if i do get an infection is this a failed root canal? im so nervous im going to loose the tooth.
Why did my Denplan dentist not inform me about abscess? What should I do?
Friday, January 4th, 2013 Hi
Could I have some advice please? I have been a Denplan member for approx 20 yrs and about 12 yrs ago had a lot of crowns fitted. I am mainly happy with my dentist, albeit he is v busy and its hard to get appts and a personal service lately. He is often stressed. My question is that I felt that I wanted a 2nd opinion on a cosmetic filling that keeps coming out every 2-3 months or less which my dentist regularly replaces. My dentist informs me its because I grind my teeth. Also I had a abscess under a large crown which my dentist gave me anti-biotics for which helped although it hasnt gone completely.
KInd regards.
What would be the cost of implants to replace my partial top dentures?
Thursday, January 3rd, 2013I would like to have an idea of how much it would cost for implants. I have a partial top denture at the moment. I have teeth that are causing me problems at the moment as they are slack so I am keeping my options open as to what to do. I do not know if I should go for another denture, it all comes down to cost. I have seen advertisements quoting £1,400 per implant so that would be too costly for the amount of teeth that I would need.
Can bridge be done sooner as wearing dentures affects my talking too much?
Friday, December 21st, 2012hi there. 5 of my front upper teeth are crowns, they have knocked and kicked through sport for years. i’m 40 now and the front right socket in my gum that the spike part used to be stuck back into was fractured and has had to be extracted. my dentist is now going to bridge but has said this will take 6 months to heal. my question is can this be done sooner as I own a pub and find it so difficult talking to customers with this plastic denture in my mouth. sorry for the long winded story. thanks
