Can a tooth with lingual gum tissue that us tilting be saved by an orthodontic?

Thursday, February 14th, 2013
Q.

I’ve been in Sure Smile braces for a year. My mouth is in worse shape now. My bite is off and my lower central tooth on the left was moved where the bottom of the root started bulging lingually. My gum tissie receeded 4mms or more; most of the root is now exposed. (maybe 3mm’s of gum tissue remains linually, the gum tissue on buccal side is fully present) I am so scared I will lose this tooth. I scheduled with my orthodontist’s partner and asked him to take over my case. I will see him on Tuesday for a new wire. What are your thoughts? Do you think a tooth with little lingual gum tissue and is tilting and the root is bulging can be orthodontically saved, or did the orthodontist do irreversible damage? Please, your thoughts on this situation.
Thank you!

Is My Bridge Making My Mouth Taste Bad?

Friday, February 1st, 2013
Q.

Hello Doctor Mark Hughes, I hope you can help me. About a month ago I had a four crown bridge fitted & also one single crown. Now i have a horrible taste in my mouth that seems to be getting worse. it feels like it is coming from the bridge but i cant be sure. There is no smell. Is this normal & will it go away. Will it poisoning me? I floss & take good care to remove any food from under the bridge. I have also just lost an old gold crown which has not yet been replaced though it dosnt feel like the taste is coming from there. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to reading your response and thank you in advance

Can I Still Get An Implant If My Gum Has Healed?

Thursday, January 31st, 2013
Q.

I had a molar removed from my top teeth approx 2yrs ago as it was infected could not be saved. I now have a gap. the tooth next to it is a crown but I have now been advised by my dentist that it is loose and will need replacing and the tooth removing as I would not be ble to have another crown. I would like an implant for the missing tooth as well as the tooth that will need removing. But my dentist has said that I would not be able to have an implant as the gum/bone has healed but I might be able to have an implant with a tooth attached so I have 2 teeth. Is this something that can be done?

My Teeth Are Slightly Out Of Place, Are Braces My Only Option?

Thursday, January 31st, 2013
Q.

My front teeth at the top are out of place and the bottom teeth are squint but typical braces would take much to long and I would rather not have them for years.. is there any methods that I could get that would work faster to give me a nice smile.. And what are the prices for the procedures roughly? I did have a look through your site at all the different treatments But I am still unsure of what would be the best option for myself and I would really appreciate any advice or information you could provide on the topic.

Thank you.

How Can I fix My Teeth Without Effecting My Speech And Appearance On The Way

Friday, January 25th, 2013
Q.

I currently have a bridge over a front missing tooth, anchored on both sides. The remaining front tooth that is an anchor has a root fill, this was done some 20 years ago. I have some gingivitus around the gum line of this tooth and now have discomfort on the very top edge of the bridged tooth up against the gum line. The bridge is very firm, but I feel discomfort when pressure is put on the tooth. I have been given Amoxicillin which has not eased the problem. I have had an Xray and the root canal is still good with no absess or problems showing on the xray but there is a metal plate on the back of the bridge that covers anything that may be going on with the tooth itself. I am paranoid about them doing anything with the bridge in case I end up loosing the front anchoring tooth. The dentist has suggested a course of flagyl next stept. I do lots of lectures and am very self concious about my speech and my appearance – what should I do not please?

My Newly Filled Tooth Is Causing Me A Lot Of Pain, What Can I Do To Relieve It

Friday, January 25th, 2013
Q.

Dear whom it may concern,
I went to the dentist like a week ago and they said i need a filling. They drilled and put a dressing on and said if i am in pain i should come back but i haven’t been yet. I brushed on that tooth yesterday and its been hurting really bad. I only brush verwhere else not that part but when i did it seriously hurts. Also, when i drink water it feels nice and am in no more pain. It hurt occasionally but now its constant. Even when I touh it hurts, i think it may be inflamed.
How do i reduce the pain?
Thank you

What Should I Do If My Tooth Is Darker Than The Rest

Friday, January 25th, 2013
Q.

I have a dark front tooth after root canal following a blow to the face. My dentist who does not specialise in cosmetics does not want to do internal bleaching as she said the original work was done so well she can’t see the filling. I don’t want an implant or crown as the tooth is in good condition and my dentist is nervous of a veneer as she doesn’t know if the darkness will show through. The original work was done 2 years ago and some days the tooth is darker then others (don’t know why this is) but I don’t believe it is going to get any darker are there any other option

How much would six veneers be for my wedding?

Monday, January 21st, 2013
Q.

Hi I was wondering of an estimate price for 6 veneers on my top 6 teeth as I would like them done for my wedding.
I don’t like my teeth at the top because I have quite small teeth, there not even on each side, I have quite a large gap between 2 teeth and they are discoloured.
Oviously I want to smile on my wedding photos and love it.

Also would like to know is there any side affects of having them done and do you have to have them done again and if so how long after?

Thankyou
