Is There An Alternative To Breaking The Jaw To Fix A Gummy Smile?

Thursday, September 5th, 2013
Q.

Hi, the problem that I would like to to discuss is that I have quite a high smile line, where, if I smile too much my gums show and I’m a little self-concious about it. I was told by my dentist when I was younger and given a brace, that I could have my jaw broke and fixed to sort the problem out, however I didn’t much like the sound of that as you can imagine. However my friend has recently had it done and her smile line looks much better. I am now 21 years old and was wondering if you had an alternative option for a procedure such as this? Many thanks

and kind regards.

I’m 19 Years Old And I Want To Know If I Can Get Braces Through The NHS?

Wednesday, September 4th, 2013
Q.

Hello. I need to tell you that I’m 19 years old and on job seekers and I was wondering whether I can still get braces for free as they are starting to hurt on the gums for no apparent reason? Do you know why this is? When I would go to the dentist they said they can’t find the problem, and also on my left side, I have one of my teeth going inwards, but in the past my dentist was only offering the braces treatment, which were the ones you can remove which were no help, so is there any chance of getting free braces as I am now getting older and need to know the cut off? I hope you can help me with my questions and I thank you in advance for any consideration.

I Have Had A Gap In My Teeth Since I Was Fifteen Years Old. What Can I Do To Resolve It?

Friday, August 30th, 2013
Q.

Hi. When I was younger I was fitted with a brace to close the gap at the front of my teeth, but it also appeared when my baby teeth either side of my front ones, fell out. There was no bigger ones coming through so I was fitted with a bridge with a black filler behind them which is very unattractive.

Also, after the brace was taken off my gap reappeared and pushed the bridge slightly, so now they are uneven.

I really want to fix this problem as I am 23 now and my teeth have been like this since I have been 15 and I have always had the gap there.

What can I do to resolve this?

Thank you.

Good Day, Is It Possible To Fix My Overbite With Braces?

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013
Q.

Good Day,

I’m 23 years old and have always been in need of braces/dental correction as I have an overbite on my front teeth which is quite deep. I’d hate the idea of wearing metallic braces or any sort of braces really that are visible as I would feel very conscious of them, at the same time I do need correction. I was wondering if sub-lingual braces could be a solution to my case and if so, how long would the treatment last and how much would it come to? As I travel a lot and tend to move country every 6 months to a year due to my job, I’d like to try the quickest or easiest solution, without having to sacrifice my job or having a beautiful smile. Do You think Invisalign could be a solution for my overbite as well? Many thanks.

I’m Want To Know The Length Of Time It Takes For My Braces To Work Before I Go Back To School?

Friday, August 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hello, I received ceramic braces a few weeks ago. I’m very worried because before I had braces, my two front teeth were at the same level. Now, the right tooth has become longer than the left one. I have to go back to school in August and I’m concerned, I don’t want people to make fun of my teeth when I talk or open my mouth to smile. I want to know how much longer I have to wait for my two front teeth to become the same level? Thank you for your time and help you can advise me.

My Two Front Teeth Are Overlapping And It’s Affecting My Confidence. What Type Of Brace Should I Consider?

Friday, August 23rd, 2013
Q.

Hi Dr Riten, my two front teeth are slightly uneven, one protrudes out and slightly crosses over the other. The other tooth seems to be straight. This has been a problem for me for many years, however I feel like the problem is getting worse and knocking my confidence, so much so It’s affecting my social life. I would like some information on what the best course of action to even them out would be? Is it possible to have a removable brace or retainer if this is only a slight problem? And how much approximately would it be? And how long would I need to wear it?

Many Thanks. I hope to hear from you.

Hi, I Want Perfect Teeth, But I’ve Been Told I Need Surgery To Change The Shape Of My Jaw. Is This My Only Option?

Thursday, August 22nd, 2013
Q.

Hi,
I’ve previously had orthodontic braces fitted three times on my top teeth and twice on bottom ones. This was due to wisdom teeth moving my teeth and also leaving a gap between my two front teeth. The last treatment I had managed to close the gap in between my front teeth and align all the teeth well. However, I was still left with a slight overbite of the front four teeth but was told this was simply the shape of my jaw and mouth and unless I had surgery that was all they could do.

I am now in my early thirties and went to a dentist where I’ve just moved and went for a local check-up. She suggested that I’d need X-rays to check roots of teeth to see whether they were strong enough for yet more braces. I’m really not sure what to do. Is it a bad idea to have braces fitted again? Could what she says about teeth shaping be true or should I just accept that I’ll never have completely perfect teeth due to my jaw shape? I’m really not sure what to do. Is it a bad idea to have braces fitted again? Could what she says about teeth shaping be true or should I just accept that I’ll never have completely perfect teeth due to my jaw shape?  I look forward to your answer.

Would I Be Able To Get Braces Without Having Teeth Removed?

Friday, August 9th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I visited an orthodontist a couple of months ago because my two top front teeth are overlapped by the teeth either side of them. I do not like this for cosmetic reasons (although I have never had any other issues with eating etc). While there, he diagnosed me with a minor cross-bite, and a minor overbite, and gave me various options of braces for a year and a half. What he said would definitely be necessary to do would be to remove two teeth up in the top, which would allow the rest of the teeth space to move back, and the overlapping teeth to stop overlapping. What I was wondering, is if it would be possible to have those two teeth out, and then six months (ish) of braces just to spread my teeth back out into the new space, and then to stop having braces and to not have a retainer either. If I had this procedure, would the teeth stay in their new position, without a need for a retainer, as the only reason they were overlapping was due to overcrowding? Thank you in advance for your response!

I Have To Wear My Retainer To Hide The Gap In My Smile – What Are My Options?

Wednesday, August 7th, 2013
Q.

Hello, I have been self conscious about my teeth for almost all my life as I have a small gap between my teeth. I did have braces for a year and a bit however my gap never really closed although it did reduce in size. I still think about it and it effects my confidence. I wear my retainer whenever I go out in public as I am so embarrassed and quite aware of how it looks. My teeth are also quite small which I hate. I use my retainer, which gives the illusion of closed straight teeth and a full smile. However it has been about 4 years and I don’t want this problem to hinder me for the rest of my life. What can I do? I’m 17 years old and in need of your advice.

Can We Move My Daughter’s Teeth Forward To Decrease Her Overriding Bottom Lip?

Tuesday, August 6th, 2013
Q.

Hi,  my daughter is currently wearing braces and her bottom lip is overriding on to her top lip. She has braces on both her top and bottom sets of teeth. Her bottom jaw is bigger than her maxilla (this was caused by an accident when she fell onto her teeth on a step when she was two years old). Can we do something to make this less prominent by moving the teeth forward a bit? She has been wearing braces for 18 months now …

Looking forward to your answer,
Thanks.
