My Young Son Plays Rugby And Is About To Get Braces. What’s The Best Way To Protect His Teeth?

Tuesday, April 1st, 2014
Q.

My son had one of his front teeth broken with a cricket bat when he was 9 (he has about half the tooth left). He had it filled to rebuild the tooth but has knocked it out or lost the filling 5 times since. He is now 12 and plays rugby. What is the best way to protect his teeth? Are there any mouth guards that have added protection for protecting already damaged teeth? Is there a long term solution that will make it stronger and at what age should that work be completed? He is due to be referred to the orthodontist to correct his ‘fangs’ in the next month.
Many thanks.

Can you suggest how to stop teeth clenching?

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011
Q.

I have a problem with clenching my teeth. This has caused problems with my jaws. I wear a mouth guard at night, but I also find myself clenching during the day. I often have severe headaches which I attribute partially to the clenching. Any suggestion to keep me from doing so. Also, I believe my lower canine teeth are being pushed back.

What cosmetic treatment can fix my teeth that are small due to teeth grinding?

Monday, January 10th, 2011
Q.

Hi, I Have a problem with teeth grinding. I have been to a dentist and have recieved preventative treatment, in the form of a mouthguard to sleep with, but am concerned that the damage has already been done and would like options on cosmetic dentistry for this problem. My teeth, in every other aspect are perfect, straight and white but as a result of grinding are quite small. Would this be a major cosmetic procedure?

Thursday, December 16th, 2010
Q.

I am clenching my teeth during night time and I have prevented it, but unfortunately, my 2 upper front teeth changed size, because of the grinding.. What do I need to fix these? I don’t have any broken tooth, the problem is they are not on their right shapes.. they decreased because of the clenching.

I would like to have veneers but fear they will break (I am a professional fighter) when in the ring. Is there a particularly strong veneer, and can you give me advice about receding gums?

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010
Q.
Hi im interested in getting veneers maybee 4-6 accross my top and 4 accross the bottom but im a proffesional fighter and worried that they might not be as strong as my own teeth and come out regularly whilst sparring and fighting. Just want your opinion and is there any particular type of veneers which are stronger than others and would be more suited to me? One more thing is there anything that can be done about reciding gums, or any advice you can give me to help against this? Thanks you very much.,
