I have a pain in the gum where a tooth was extracted, what action should I take?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
Q.

i had my left eyetooth taken out after an accident about 6 mths ago..all has gone well until i felt a slight pain a few days ago. after a closer look, i was shocked to find i have a small rip/hole in my gum just above where the tooth would’ve been. im not in a medicel benefit fund atm and am really afraid there could be bad news waiting for me if i see a doctor. have you heard of this problem before? will it go away on its own? is there a reason for me to be so afraid? or is this a normal thing that will just need a bit of antibiotics?

Should I have a tooth removed to have a bridge re-fitted?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011
Q.

Hello Dr Moore

I have a bridge of 4 false teeth at the front of my mouth and after 20 years the original K9 has sheared off leaving the bridge loose, I am due soon to have another denture fitted. I believe the sheared tooth will be removed and a compound used instead from the root. I was told after a second opinion within the surgery that this will only last for approx 2-3 years and I really need to consider the screw in option of which will costs me £6000 pounds of which I cannot afford. What can I do. I am seriously considering having all my teeth removed as this will be a cheaper option.

Many thanks

How long do I need to wait until I can have an implant, after having a tooth extracted?

Monday, January 17th, 2011
Q.

I have to have one of my front teeth extracted, I’ll have to wear a denture for three months whilst the gum heals and then I’m opting for an implant. I was just wondering if after the three months is over the implant can be put straight in and also what the temporary replacement is during the 6 month period?

How long will i have to wait to wear a denture after my bone graft?

Monday, January 10th, 2011
Q.

Hi

I had a front tooth extracted 6 months ago, and due to short roots on my front teeth, a bridge is not an option. I have a denture at the moment, but I have been told if I want an implant, I would need a bone graft first. Will the graft damage or loosen the teeth either side, and how quickly will I be able to wear my denture after the graft. Thanks

I am going to have a metal biting surface on my bottom molar, will this be affected by my teeth grinding during the night?

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011
Q.

I was at the dentist today, I had a tooth that was severely affected by internal resorbtion (sp?)… and the tooth was completely hollow on the inside so I had to have it extracted. My dentist told me before he got my temporary bridge back from the lab or whoever and said that my back molars( I had number 14 extracted) are too short for them to put porcelain on the botton of the tooth so the bottom will be metal. I have never heard of this and I was wondering is this common and i was quite qorried cause i sometimes wake up and felt sore from teeth grinding at night…
